User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars TAG!!!! coolest thing yet!
I really like the tag reading system! my daughter plays with this everyday!! Po is one of her favorites! along with the ariel princess one! they read the story fully or you can do it word by word, play games, and make sounds! very cool!!!

4 Stars Kung Fu Panda
My son enjoys using the pen on big words he doesn’t know. It gives him a little more ease when he reads, instead of sitting there struggling. He’s in first grade.

5 Stars Another good one by Leap Frog
So far, anything that leap frog has put out has been a winner in this house. I incorporated leap frog leapster and tag reader in my son’s homeschool as a type of award-reward!

5 Stars Engaging, fun and educational
Our family loved the movie, “Kung Fu Panda,” so my daughter enjoys seeing the characters throughout this book and learning to read by tagging the words using the tag system. There is plenty of humor in this book, so keeps her motivated and entertained while learning to follow instructions and new words. I highly recommend this brilliant product.

5 Stars Kung Fu Panda storybook
I bought this for my 4 yr old granddaughter and she reads it over and over again. She loves to “read” all by herself with this. It’s not just a toy, but a reading helper.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars This is huge!
My 3 year old son loves all the Melissa & Doug floor puzzles. This one is huge and is of very high quality.

5 Stars Fun educational toy
We have a 3 yr old that loves making this puzzle. Pieces are large enough for him to handle with ease. Good family activity

5 Stars Firetruck puzzle is great!
My 3 year old son loves this puzzle and we’ve put it together many times. The pieces are durable and the puzzle is challenging enough to be interesting but not so much that he can’t do it alone. He loves firetrucks and this has been a truly enduring purchase. Would buy again.

5 Stars A must have for toddlers!
My 2yr old son received this puzzle as a gift and he loves to play with it almost daily. He needs help putting it together, but I love watching him discover ways to figure out where each piece goes. The wheels and hose pieces he has down pat already at 26mths. The puzzle is huge, which is another reason he loves it. We spend about 20 mins with this puzzle, talking about colors, parts of the truck, etc. He even loves the little dog. Great for any toddler into fire trucks. Pieces are well built, connect well, and hold up to toddler handling.

5 Stars Fun for little guys
Gave this and another Melissa and Doug puzzle to my friend’s little boy for an early gift form Santa this year. It was a huge hit!

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars My four year old twins fight over it!
They absolutely love it! They started playing a few days ago and are just fascinated by it. And they have learned so much already. Which number is greater than which one, the sequence of numbers, it’s just amazing. I tried it and I was like, “huh, how does Batman open the door?” and my son David said, “Mom, just push the up arrow”. Four years old and they are understanding instructions and selecting correct answers, all because Batman is so entertaining. I recommend this game 100%. (BTW, stay away from the Nemo game, it’s just too boring).

5 Stars My 6 and 9-year olds LOVE this game
My 6 and 9 year old boys have been playing this game for many months and do not get tired of it. It is wonderful during long car trips. My 6 year old loves the math section, greater than and less than and counting by 5s. He has learned multiplication tables by playing the game.

5 Stars Batman to the rescue!
The Easter Bunny brought this to my 5 year old son and he hasn’t put it down yet! I found him under the covers playing this game last night. He just can’t get enough.

5 Stars My son LOVES this game!
My son loves this game and continues to talk to me about it every day. I let him play his Leapster in the car on the way home from school. He always lets me know what’s going on with it. He describes to me who he is “battling” and the things that he has to do to win. Even in the mornings, on the way TO school, he talks about it. I love Leapster because the games teach so much. I have not yet seen one that didn’t teach something. This one is no different.

5 Stars Excellent and Fun
My 5 year old LOVES this. He’s not a Batman fan but loves math (go figure). Once he mastered the basic controls and concepts with help from dad he did it on his own. It presents good game action with good guys and bad guys and presents math problems at different user-settable levels. The problems are addition, pattern matching and fill in the blank with the game designers doing an excellent job of making these interesting. I highly recommend this game/toy for those kids that like math.

Insect Lore Ladybug Land

May 12th, 2009

Insect Lore Ladybug Land

Witness the magic of biology as tiny larvae bloom into beautiful ladybugs. The ladybug metamorphosis kit is a colorful, see-through habitat that provides kids with an up-close look at the miracle of nature. Features: Colorful, see-through Ladybug Land habitat. Mail-in certificate for ladybug larvae and food -15-20 larvae, shipped separately. It includes a magnified viewing lens fun-filled fact and a instruction guide. You can watch in amazement as the larvae shed their skins and extend their delicate new wings. Then set them free into your backyard, where they will contribute to the living ecosystem. A wonderful journey for little nature a lover, this one-of-a-kind kit makes the wonders of the world real, tangible and fun.

User Ratings and Reviews

1 Star Not a Good Experience
My sister ordered this for my 11 year old daughter. We promptly ordered the larvae with the understanding that they would not mail them until the weather conditions were agreeable. We ordered them in Texas in August so when we didn’t get them for a couple of months, we thought it was still too hot. Finally about 4 months after we ordered the larvae (and had received nothing), I called the company. Firstly, they acted like I was crazy for not having called them sooner and/or was lying about it. They asked for proof of purchase. I said I had our half of the postcard that we used to order the larvae. They asked that I fax a copy of this to them. (Still felt like they thought I was trying to pull some scam!!) We then received a mailing tube of what appeared to be dead larvae. We went ahead and followed all directions to the letter. Nothing ever moved, lived or developed at all. I faxed a copy of the original card again telling them that everything was dead when received and/or died in transit. That was at least 6 months ago and they never even responded. Don’t waste your money on this. Sadly, the company is not at all interested in the children that are disappointed. Every time I look at that empty habitat (kinda cute actually), I’m furious at a company that doesn’t care that my 11 year old (now 12) got a useless gift that should have been a good gift! Shame on Insect Lore!!!

5 Stars Made me a hero with my granddaughter.
This is educational, but no one will notice if you don’t tell them. It comes with a mail in cupon and once you have the larvae, the fun begins. Make sure you share the information and discuss all of the events of the bug cycle. Learning can be fun.

2 Stars Bad Design
I bought this kit for my daughter and we all had great fun watching the larvae grow and morph into lady beetles. Unfortunately, the container is poorly designed. When you take the lid off to give them water, the lady bugs (at whatever stage) wander into the crevice meant for the lid. They are then squished when you try to replace the lid. Out of the 10 larvae, we ended up with one lady beetle to release. The rest died in the manner described above. If the container was designed a little differently, we would consider buying more.

5 Stars Loved this toy
My 6 year old daughter loved this toy. She is having fun studying the bugs from our garden, we did not even receive the mail order bugs yet.

5 Stars Fun For Everyone!
I bought this kit for the library I work at in Utah, so that the children could come in and watch the ladybugs grow as a part of our Catch the Reading Bug summer reading program. It was a big hit! We had to order them again, because the kids were sad we released the ladybugs. The first time we did it, however, out of the 12 ladybugs, only three made it to adult. The second time we had better luck. We currently have six of 10 that turned into adults. I wouldn’t be surprised if we have some eggs in the habitat pretty soon.

The butterfly kits were a big success as well. We had one handicap butterfly, but he/she learned to fly just fine. We ended up having 8 of 10 turn into butterflies (despite the fact that three of the chrysalis fell down).

As for some having dead ladybugs arrive, it’s possible that the environments they were shipped through were too hot for them. You may want to consider contacting the company first if you’re worried about the larvae arriving alive. All of our ladybugs arrived alive, so I can’t be sure why this problem occurred. As for Oregon residents who bought this kit, unfortunately most companies won’t ship ladybugs to Oregon, but try googling live ladybug kits. There may be a company out there who will ship to Oregon.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Leapster Math
This is a birthday present for my grandson. It arrived quickly and I wrapped it and sent it on to Japan. Boy grandsons love the software and it is small enough to send economically.

4 Stars great game
I purchased this game for my then 4.5yo and 6 yo last December. Both find it easy to operate but the math still makes them think.

3 Stars it’s just ok
I got this for my 7 year old 2nd grader as a fun way to practice math facts (she hates flash cards). She and her 9 year old 4th grade sister agree that it’s fun, but it moves too slowly to really be engaging for very long. There is only one activity on it, and it is very much like another title “Number Raiders” that they have. They don’t play with either very much, and when they do they don’t play for very long (20 minutes, maybe?). So in the end not very many math facts get learned or practiced, although as a game it’s good for a bit of fun occasionally. Might be good on a trip or a rainy day to occupy some time.

5 Stars Math is fun?????
With Leapsters Cosmic Math, it is!!!!!!!!!!! We have 3 Leapsters and tons of the games, and my kids LOVE learning this way!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 Stars Leapster Arcade: Cosmis Math
Our kids have lots of the leapster games and they love playing them. I like educational toys that apply to what they are learning in school. This game makes math fun!
