LeapFrog Learn and Groove Alphabet Drum

LeapFrog Learn and Groove Alphabet Drum

Make your youngster’s learning experience more upbeat with the LeapFrog Learn and Groove Alphabet Drum alphabet drum. Each tap of this drum introduces baby to the alphabet and improves vocabulary in both English and Spanish. Engaging music and interactive play sharpen motor skills as baby learns to tap, crawl, and dance. It features three delightful learning modes, including Alphabet, Dance Along, and Music Play. Babies quickly catch on to cause and effect, as each tap rewards them with lights, letters, and music. Music Play mode lets the child freely explore music, fostering open-ended play and creative movement. And this drum’s lively, roll-along song teaches them to crawl after the drum. Ideal for children ages six months to three years, this stimulating toy entertains and educates for hours.

The Beat Goes On
The Alphabet Drum is built to withstand the throws and whacks from typical toddler handling. Parents will appreciate the volume control as it keeps the music at an enjoyable level. To prolong battery life, the drum shuts off if it hasn’t been used for awhile. Plus, at approximately 8 inches tall, it helps babies learn to sit up on their own. Both the English and Spanish voices of the Alphabet Drum are audible and easy to understand. Bright colors, uplifting music, and a fun design make this a favorite in any child’s toy box.

Award-Winning Features
It is no surprise that the LeapFrog Alphabet Drum was a winner of the 2006 iParenting Media Greatest Products Award. This drum teaches language, music, and motor skills as a strong foundation for the child’s future. Children love to dance, roll it around, or chase after it, and as a versatile toy, it can be played with through multiple development stages.

What’s in the Box
LeapFrog drum and 3 AA batteries.

This toy drum improves vocabulary in both English and Spanish, while delivering fun songs, lights and sound effects.

3 Stars It’s alright
This toy is just “okay.” We got it as a baby shower gift and we took it out when my daughter was around 6 months old. She couldn’t drum on it quite then, but now that she’s over a year, she’s able to drum without problems.

But does she like to play with this? Not so much. She’ll maybe get through half of the alphabet and then move on to the next toy. It’ll occupy her for maybe 30 seconds. So is it worth to have? I don’t think so. But maybe she’ll end up liking it down the road when she’s older. I guess only time will tell! :)

4 Stars 9 month old boy
I’ve been wanting to get this toy for my son ever since he was born. My goddaughter had this toy and she LOVED it and played with it constantly- and it was educational! I like the old leap frog drum a lot better though (the one she had) because it had a level for JUST letter and JUST numbers- and this new one doesn’t; just mostly letters. THAT was a little disappointing, but he still loves it, especially since he knows how to work it now. I would give it a 4 star rating as a whole.

3 Stars Maybe this is just for “bangers”
Our daughter has had this drum for at least three months, and hasn’t shown much interest in it (or in banging things in general).

The toy itself it well made, and easily withstands the abuse a baby can throw at it. On my personal scale of “how annoying is this noise-making toy”, I’d have to say that this rates squarely between “Whoever got her this is going to pay dearly.” and “Oh no, daddy can’t find the batteries!”

As others have noted, getting your baby to make the connection that hitting the drum will make it do something is difficult, as the drum is constantly blinking or playing music. If your baby is banging on tables, trays, pets, etc., making the connection might be much easier.

I think the LeapFrog Learn & Groove Counting Maracas are better designed, and more interesting for babies.

3 Stars Too much in one
I don’t like this toy, because it tries to pack too much into one toy. Yes, exposing children to numbers and letters early on is good, and this toy will definitely get their attention, but I think the LED letters and numbers on top of the music are just too much at once. Maybe if you could turn off the background music and listen only to the numbers or letters, it would make a little more sense.

3 Stars Not very loud. Doesn’t keep our kid entertained for more than a couple of minutes.
Probably wouldn’t buy this item again. It doesn’t get very loud. Feels durable. I guess if our 19 month old would sit still for longer than 3 minutes she might enjoy this item more.

4 Stars Great Set But Not Without It’s Problems
This is a cool set.It has a great amount of pieces for the price.I thoroughly enjoyed putting the cockpit together. It’s one fault however is in the flimsiness in the wings.Yes,the wings will come off especially if your giving this to a small child. If your a collector this problem is easily solved by adding extra parts to strengthen the wings. Also if you have no intention of ever taking it apart invest in some superglue and that will solve your problem.I feel that if it did have these issues this definitely could have been one of the greatest Star Wars sets to come out in a long time. It’s great for display though and it comes with a super awesome Darth Vader figure!

5 Stars My son loves it!
I bought this a gift for my nine year old son and he loves it!

4 Stars Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter
It is awesome to me!!!!!! I spend all my time playing with it. It was a very challenging set to build. I hope they lower the price for the set so other kids can get it too!!

1 Star Beautiful look, but it falls apart at little more than a touch
I find it hard to understand why at Lego Design Headquarters they can come up with so many beautifully engineered sets, so that a youngster can assemble and learn from that effort, yet not understand that a child will want to play with the set too.

Assemble this Tie-fighter and let a child play a little with it and the wings come off. The arms that connect to the inner sides of the large wings are really narrow, with the wings held on by only 2 or 3 points. If the child playing with this set is really unlucky, more comes apart than the wings. The set will even disassemble when you are trying to install Darth onto his seat.

If you won’t become frustrated by having to reassemble this set basically every time your child plays with it, until you’re nearly blue-in-the-face, then go ahead.

Otherwise, I’d look elsewhere for a Tie-fighter.

4 Stars My son thinks it’s wonderful!
I don’t know too much about the star wars saga, but my son knows everything about it! and that’s enough for me.

He built the toy in 20 or 30 minutes

I am satisfied

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Dinosaurs are kids favorites
Again something for my son who loves dinosaurs you can’t beat stamps he puts it all over his books and is able to name them because of it. very good to have and to enjoy.

3 Stars Purchased for 4 year old
The child that this was purchased for loves dinosaurs and thinks that this stamp set is great.

5 Stars Lots of fun!
My son got this stamp set for his 5th birthday. He’s getting into coloring and loves dinosaurs. He really enjoys it, as does his little sister (2) and any friends who have come over to play. It’s great quality and they spend a lot of time stamping and then coloring in the stamps with the colored pencils. The only downside is that you have to press down really hard for the pencils to color. We have just replaced the pencils with crayola colored pencils, which are softer, so not a big deal.

5 Stars Fun for my little artist.
I ordered this for my 6 year old son who loves art. The set is very visually attractive and a good size. My son was able to use the stamps with the supplied pad to create a cool dino scene. Then he used the pencils to color it in, add volcano’s, etc. Cool set for a young art lover.

5 Stars Dinosaurs for grandson and hospitalized neighbor
I bought two of these sets. Both my five year old grandson and my three year old neighbor, who is hospitalized with a bone marrow transplant, loved this set. It was especially good for the youngster hospitalized and quite sick because he could manage it in bed!

4 Stars The Little Alphabet Drum
This toy is always pulled out to play with when our just over one year old daughter heads for her toys. She will hum and bop along with the music. She loves to tap the drum and watch the graphics change. She rolls it across the floor. The different settings on it make it a more interesting toy to her, I am sure.

The volume even on high is pretty quiet but we (her parents) like that.

3 Stars We use it everyday, but not as a drum.
I bought this toy for my 8 month old daughter. My daughter likes to hit the table or anything in front of her, but not this drum. But I found the other use of it. I bought the drum together with the music table(highly recommend). The drum is perfectly fit the table as a small bench. So we use it everyday, in another way. :)

Maybe when she gets bigger, she’ll start using it as a drum, so far I’m not regretting to get it.

3 Stars Maybe this is just for “bangers”
Our daughter has had this drum for at least three months, and hasn’t shown much interest in it (or in banging things in general).

3 Stars Great music, but not much of a drum!
I want to start off this review saying that my one year old son loves the music from this drum! He will hit it to get the music going, but then dances around; he does not continue to hit it. If you are looking for a drum, look elsewhere. If you are looking for something to provide musical entertainment, this this might fit the bill.

The cons are that you can barely hear the drum sound when the child hits it during the music mode, and the “high” volume setting is not very high at all.

The pros include: it is very durable, the light display is fun, and the music is lively & catchy.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Great Ride!
Got this for my son’s 12th birthday – he liked his regular Razor scooter, but was getting too big for it. He loves this one and rides it almost every day! The footboard is bigger and the wheels give a better ride and he can now go over most bumps.

Nothing bad to say!

5 Stars Great scooter by Razon, great buy from Amazon
My son really is enjoying his Razor Wood Kick. It ha larger wheels than the traditional razor and wood board (platform) instead of metal for some added flexibility. The platform is a wider than a traditional razor and offers some flex for tricks and jumping. Shipping and costs were great and the items arrived within a week with the lowest cost shipping option.

Two Thumbs Up!

5 Stars Great scooter for kids, too!
I bought this scooter for my son’s 5th birthday. It looked large in the box, and my husband immediately took it out and rode it around the house – WOW! It is smooth and fast and fun. I was worried that it might be too big for my 34 lb 5 year old, as it was his first 2 wheeled scooter, but he was up and going immediately! This is great at the park – he can coast along the sidewalk forever without even kicking. The large platform is easy for him to balance on and the large wheels easily go over large sidewalk cracks and he even rode on some of the packed down winter grass! The handle bar easily adjusts up and down so my son and husband could take turns. I believe this to be the BEST scooter out there for riding!

5 Stars Razor’s
Great product that is well constructed and sturdy. Kids are throughly enjoying the scooters.

5 Stars Go for this upgrade!
The Cruiser model is MUCH better than the standard Razor, especially for adults and larger children. The wider, wooden deck is more comfortable than the standard narrow aluminum deck. Also, the wooden deck flexes to absorb shocks and road bumps (the larger wheels help, too!).
