4 Stars Battleship
Great fun for kids of all ages. Great for developing basic cognitive awareness and fun for adults to play with children, too.

5 Stars A good, fun game for the whole family. definitely recommend it!
I bought this game for my kids, but we ended up getting hooked to it. Love this game

3 Stars fun game
great toy for 8 years old. The battle over the sea make kids excited. But I expect more logic training from the game and I didn’t find much.

4 Stars Battleship – always a classic
My 6 year old loves this game, of course he does it’s battleship. Game is made more poorly than I recall….

2 Stars Not Worth The Effort
I bought this to play with my five year-old daughter. I tend to prefer games that can include more than two people, but I thought that this would be good for teaching some simple strategies. Unfortunately, the game is just too boring. While my daughter easily understood the game play, she and I both were done after just finding a couple of each others boats. It just takes too long and doesn’t compete with the many entertainment options.

As for construction, I will confirm other reviewer comments that the build quality is poor. I remember that in my old game, the pegs would sit firmly in the holes. Now, with a simple move of the board, pegs can fall down, causing you to lose your place. They also don’t sit well in the boat pieces. I also received a number of crooked pieces, making them useless.

I can’t imagine how anyone wouldn’t be disappointed by this game. You may get a few good rounds with it, but don’t be surprised if it quickly ends up in the closet collecting dust.

5 Stars classic board game
great classic game from my own childhood. Bought this for my 7 year old for Christmas and all 3 of my kids (4,6,7) love playing it. Great new features make it more interesting.

2 Stars buzzer does not work
I bought two of these, for my grandchildren. I am very disappointed to hear that neither work, the buzzer is broken.

3 Stars Makes kids happy
My 8 year old niece wanted this toy. I got her as a birthday present. A silly toy, but she really enjoys it. Well it fulfills the use for what it was made, i.e. make children enjoy. Looking at the built, I think it’s a little expensive.

5 Stars Always fun – matter your age
I got this game as a gift after having not played it for years. It is just as fun now as ever. If you have kids that you want to introduce to a game that you used to love, this is the one to get for them. They will love it, and it will probably bring back a lot of fond memories for you too!

It doesn’t come with batteries, so make sure you have some on hand so you can play right away!

4 Stars Old Game – Still Fun
I played this game as a child and now my Grandson and I enjoy playing it together. It’s fun and good for hand/eye coordination

Stratego

Stratego

Step onto the battlefield and put your strategy to the test in this classic game. Each player must use cunning and luck to outwit their opponents and win the game. It’s the same classic “capture the flag” gameplay, but with an all-new heroic fantasy theme. For 2 players.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Great Strategy Game
It will get you to think, its alot like chess, but gives you more set up options and more options. You cannot go wrong with stratego!

5 Stars Great Birthday gift for boys 7-10
My son has given this as his birthday gift of choice for all his friends. It’s great because, unlike traditional Stratego, it doesn’t take days to play. In addition the figures have special moves which provides added enjoyment. A great game for boys ages 7-10.

4 Stars Alright, Stratego!
I have never played any of the other editions of Stratego. I think the classic version features military players. This one has fantasy type players, like a Dragon, a magician, dwarf, etc. I bought it for my husband as I have been looking for good two person games for us to play together. This one hit the nail on the head. It’s a simplified chess game, which is great to play again. It’s involving and fun, and it makes you feel like your brain may actually be getting some exercise. Kids can play too, which is nice. You can learn to play quickly yet the game can get quite complex: as they say, a minute to learn, a lifetime to master. Highly recommended.

3 Stars Meh
I got this for my son for Christmas. Because this isn’t “traditional” Stratego, it has some alternate rules which are confusing. My son played it with me once and never asked to play again. I think it was partly confusing rules, and partly that kids just don’t want to play board games anymore.

As a parent, I had fond memories of playing Stratego as a kid, but those warm fuzzies didn’t return once I started playing.

4 Stars Fun strategy game
I grew up on the old game, so adjusting to the reverse numbering scheme took time. In this new version, high numbers are strong and low numbers are weak.

I like this version because it has more than one way to play. Normal mode or Special Power mode. However, I think I preferred the military theme rather than the fantasy theme.

Battleship

February 20th, 2010

Battleship

Battleship captains plot their strategies, send out torpedoes, and as the last ship (often the smallest, two-peg patrol boat) hides in an unsuspected corner, anticipation mounts. Like many classic games, Battleship walks a fine line between strategy and luck. The goal is to conceal the location of your ships while finding and destroying your enemies’ fighters. The playing arena is a notebook-size plastic board updated for ’90s sensibilities: the “floor” of the board is printed with waves and the exterior vaguely resembles a laptop. The design mimics the view a submarine captain would have, complete with a glimmer of radar waves. The game is perfect entertainment to share: simple enough for children, yet gratifying enough for adults to enjoy. One design decision keeps this edition from being truly stellar: the playing boards don’t lock securely, allowing the small pegs to fall out and spill from the sides if jostled. –Jennifer Buckendorff

Big Screen FreeCell

November 8th, 2009

Big Screen FreeCell

Put your Solitaire-playing skills to the test. This on-the-go version of Solitaire lets you play your favorite card game on a large LCD screen with game sound effects. There’s even an auto-light for night-time play. Requires 2 “AA” batteries, not included. Measures 4.35″ W x 1.25″ D x 6.40″ H.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars I love Big Screen FreeCell
I already had the burgundy freecell game by Radica, and have played it for years. The center roller was not consistently working, so it was time for a new model. After playing the Big Screen model for about a month, I picked up my old game again. I absolutely love the new navigation up & down arrows; this works so much better than the old roller for scrolling. I also quickly realized how much better the lighted screen is. I love this game.

1 Star Buy A Laptop
I imagine this gadget may be adequate for the UltraHardcore Freecell Junkies among us. However, even as big a Freecell Zombie as I am I think this hand held “version” is a useless POS. I find it impossible to differentiate the four suits in any useful way. Yeah, you can see them by squinting but, since there’s no color involved to distinguish hearts and diamonds from clubs and spades, it’s almost impossible to figure out which card should go where. In addition, and, I think, a problem with all these solitare games, is the fact that you cannot see the entire field of cards so you have no idea where the aces are, e.g., without constantly using the “up” and “down” buttons.

In short, this game is pretty much for those who are desperate to play Freecell in the WORST way, because this is truly the worst way I can imagine. If you are totally jonesing for a hit of Freecell and you’re dependant on your desktop, then get yourself a small laptop. Don’t waste your money, as I did, on this toy.

5 Stars Big Screen Free Cell
It takes a few minutes to get used to the screen. Reading the instructions really helps!! Once you get the hang of it it’s great. My husband plays this every day. It’s great to cart along to a dental or doctor’s appointment – makes that time in the waiting room seem short!

1 Star Not much fun
I really wanted to enjoy this but it’s not like the game on my computer (as stated in the description) the card piles are all the same and worse, there is no undo button which for those of us just learning the game, is essential. Once you move a card, that is it, no mistakes allowed. Perhaps this game is only for those who really know the game and somehow can make this thing work and have fun. I found only frustration.

5 Stars Big Screen Free Cell
I’m on my second one. I wore one out. I have had it a couple of years. It still works but is getting a little beat up. I play it almost every day. It lights up so it’s easy to see with the lights out. Love it. My Mom’s on her second one also.
