User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Fun for all ages
When the kids and I play Nerf guns, the darts go flying everywhere, so extra ammo is essential to keep up with everyone. Comes with a handy mesh carrying case with a clip that will attach to your belt loop so your hands are free to aim for your target. The velcro darts tend to stick to the inside of the bag, but that’s a minor annoyance for the amount of fun they bring. The name Nerf says it all!

5 Stars Nerf Dart Tag
Loads of fun for all ages!! It’s a great toy to have around when a friend comes over. Fun for both outdoor and indoor use!

4 Stars Fun and wild game – extra darts a plus
Buy the extra darts for a longer battle. The kids love it, older one included. It can get crazy as these darts fly fast and furious around the room. Girls and boys are equally as wild with the darts.

5 Stars Buy Plenty of These
These are a definite must-have. Buy plenty because you will need them. The darts can get easily lost when shooting them – so the more the better.

5 Stars Nerf does it again!
I have two boys; 8 & 10. We play with these things all the time!!! We have a great time with this toy. Can’t give it much of an educational rating, unless of course you live in a tactical environment…we do! LOL! If you have boys, this will get their wiggles out…don’t forget the eye protection. BATTLE-ON!

The Game of Life Twists and Turns

March 3rd, 2010

The Game of Life Twists and Turns

The Game of Life: Twists and Turns puts a new and modern spin on Hasbro’s classic family board game. It is a game of choices, where players can “test drive” different lifestyles, take their chances and experience the twists and turns of real life. Jobs, money, marriage, children and all sorts of unexpected events — just like real life, it’s all here! Recommended for ages 8 and up, there are a thousand different ways to play this game, and no two games will ever be the same.

Updating a Classic
Like the classic version of the Game of Life, the Game of Life: Twists and Turns is based around real-life events. You’ll choose a profession at the beginning of the game, and roll the dice to progress along the board. As you progress, you’ll encounter all sorts of real-life events (injected with a hefty dose of humor, of course), including marriage, houses, cars and family matters. You’ll essentially live real life and make life-defining decisions, but without having to live with the consequences.

However, Twists and Turns has a number of updates in store. Not only does it offer far more choices and possibilities than the original, it also has a number of new technical features that both longtime fans and newly-introduced players will appreciate greatly. The game now features a “LIFEPod,” which helps players keep track of time and manage their careers, houses, cars and families with the touch of the button. The high-tech interface adds loads of fun to the game. The innovations don’t stop there: each player now gets their very own Visa credit card, which they can use to spend. This not only puts a fresh modern twist on the game, but it also could possibly teach younger players about credit card responsibility at an early age. This gives educational value to an already quirky and fun game.

An updated classic game, this version of Life features a LIFEPod to help keep track of players’ careers, houses, cars, and families.

5 Stars College Bound!
My college bound daughter played this game her senior year in high school and loved it. I thought this was the perfect gift to take to college. She plans Life Twists and Turns tournaments in the dorm! I have to say it was fun to play and I am not a board game type person.

1 Star Too many directions
Growing up I loved the game of Life. My kids got this game for a gift and we were excited to try it out. We were all very frustrated that every time you landed on a space you had to read directions. Nothing in this game is self explanatory. We’ve tried to played it twice and have stopped before finishing both times. This may be a good game to play with teens or adults but for an 8 and 10 year old, it is just too complicated. I’m contemplating buying the original Life game for their next gift.

1 Star Don’t waste your life….
Please, if you are looking for good family games, please step away from Life. It is monotonous, it does not require any real decision making skills from you or your children. Games should be fun, thought provoking and change from game to game. This does not. There are so many great family games out there that everyone in the family will enjoy. [...]

5 Stars Life
I like this game. It is a classic, and still fun every time I play it. Fun for all ages! I also like that it doesn’t take too long to play, and is not too complicated.

5 Stars Educational
I used this game in my Bus. Math class as an end-of-the-year wrap-up. It was great!

USAopoly The Beatles Monopoly Game

January 23rd, 2010

USAopoly The Beatles Monopoly Game

The Beatles Collector’s Edition of the Monopoly game provides Beatlemaniacs and music fans the opportunity to create their own private anthology of music by collecting Beatles albums including Abbey Road, Rubber Soul and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Measures 1.25″L x 10″W x 1.25″H.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Perfect for The Beatles Fan!
Fun game, especially if you know your BEATLES… but as a game, I personally prefer the original game!

4 Stars it is a gift
i bought it as a gift and my friend is a huge fan of the beatles and loves monopoly. At least he made me believed that was the best gift ever.

5 Stars Beatles Monopoly
Have always loved Monopoly and when I saw the Beatles version, I had to have it seeing that my husband is English. Loads of fun and it’s a great version of the original.

4 Stars New twist to an old game
We found playing this version of Monopoly very enjoyable. For me, however, the game lasts too long. We listened to our entire Beatles music catalog countless times while playing. Got great laughs when a feature within the game corresponded to a song or lyric on the stereo.

If you like the Beatles but not Monopoly, enjoy the music while you play and you should enjoy yourself. I recommend any fan of the Fab Four try the experience at least once.

5 Stars Beatle Themed Fun, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!
This Beatle themed version of Monopoly is ideal for the inveterate Beatle fans. From the Beatle-song named pieces (my favorites are “Here Comes the Sun” and “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer”) to the stops on the board named for places in the Beatles’ lives are sure to delight fans of all ages. As you go down the Long & Winding Road acquiring property, try to dodge the Taxman or he’ll charge you a percentage of your savings.

It’s more fun if you play some Beatle songs while you’re playing the game. That will really get you even more into it. We added a rule – if you end up in jail, you have to sing “Help!”

Yes, a fun way to have a Beatle bonding session. I love this game!

5 Stars its great have a young one? into to science its wonderful
Purchased this for my 5 year old granddaughter for christmas. This she said out of the gazzillions of presents she got, including one of those riding atv looking things. This she annouced was her favorite thing for christmas. There are about 10 different experiments to do maybe a few more. And she loved every minute of it. I am thrilled I bought it and would love a recommendation for more kits like this. From the puny volcano, to the crystals, to the fizzing underwater volcano this kit gets 5 stars!

5 Stars Loads of fun for the kids!
My children are 6 and 9 and they were entertained for hours. The messiness factor is fairly low considering the objects of discovery within this toy. The volcano was nothing like what you would think of from past experiences, but they loved that experiment the best!

4 Stars Fun but expensive
This is the sort of kit that you buy exclusively for the instructions (though you could buy a science experiment book instead) and a couple of chemicals that you don’t have in your kitchen (in this case red cabbage juice powder, goldenrod paper and crystals). $20-$25 is a bit too much for that, but I bought my kit at Michael’s with a 50% off coupon (so I only paid $14 or so after tax) and I think it’s not a bad value for that. It will make me go to the store for more supplies that are not included (baking flour and grape juice in my case). But I think the point is that it’s getting us started on doing science experiments together – maybe later we’ll branch out on our own.

So far we’ve done two experiments. The first one is your simple mixing baking soda with citric acid and water, which most kids have done a lot, but the second one adds red cabbage juice powder to the mix, and that makes a lot of difference. My 7yo loved seeing the glasses turn different colors, and fizz or not fizz depending which ingredient she added to it. She started not wanting to do any experiments saying science was for boys – but by the end of that experiment she was hooked and ready for more :-) Now I need to find a supplier of red cabbage juice powder to repeat these experiments at her birthday party :-)

5 Stars Educational Fun!
Our 5-year-old loves doing the experiments in this box. It’s designed to teach with simple experiments and she has certainly learned from them. The experiments reinforce was is learned and helps her to remember the concepts.

5 Stars Makes a great gift for a 4 year old.
Gave this science kit as a gift to a 4 year old. He ssaid he loved it and even his little sister who is 2 really got into it as well. Great alternative to your typical Fisher-Price toys for gifts, this item really gets the little ones thinking on their own. Highly recommended.

Pass the Pigs

November 24th, 2009

Pass the Pigs

For 2 or more players

Go hog wild with the pig-tastic game, Pass the Pigs. Players attempt to rack up points by rolling the pig dice – but if they’re not careful they might ‘Pig Out’ and lose all their points. Pass the Pigs is the sizzlin’ fun, shakin’ bacon game!

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Fun for the whole family
We love Pass the Pigs! It is fun enough to entertain a group of adults, can be played as a drinking game if you wish, and is also fun for my 4 and 6 year old kids. They are recognizing the points for different combos, and it employs math skills too in adding up scores. Lots of fun for young and old alike. I have already recommended it to a couple friends!

5 Stars Easy and Fun for friends
This game is great. I love this game. It is so simple and fun, because there is always lots of laughs with the people you play this with.

I used to own a copy of this came when it was called “Pig Mania”.

There is one small negative of the the game, the score pad is small, but that is all. I like the fact it comes in a portable case.

4 Stars Small but Fun!
Pass the Pig is a great travel game. Lots of fun for all ages. Its small and compact. But you have to be careful not to loose the pigs! Played it when I was ten and now again when I’m 28.

5 Stars Fun family game; don’t lose the pigs
We have a blast with this game. I have a five yr old, and getting him to sit still and play a game is not easy. He loves this game. I also have a 1.5 yr old, and she likes the pigs. As is true with any toy with small parts, watch out for the little ones picking up and walking off with the pigs; they are small.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this game.

4 Stars Best Dice Game – The Game That Doesn’t Use Dice, It Uses Pigs Instead
This product is the greatest little game I have ever played. Any person(s) will be provided with loads of fun, laughs and enjoyment will playing Pass the Pigs. A great game for both children and adults.
