LeapFrog Didj Custom Learning Game Star Wars The Clone Wars

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker have just learned that a powerful new droid weapon is being built that would give the Separatists the winning advantage. Join Jedi knights as they race against time to stop what would almost certainly be a fatal blow to the Republic and the Jedi Order.

5 Stars Excellent educational game
My 7 year old son is in love with the Didj my dad got him, and he only had the Jetpack Heroes that was included. So, I decided to add to his repertoire. After all, I know the Leapster wasn’t much without the cartridges and the included games weren’t ever nearly as fun as the ones we bought.

I was a little concerned that the Star Wars game would have the same math concepts he worked on in Jetpack Heroes, but it is different. Instead of addition, subtraction, multiplication, my son gets to work on fractions, place value and geometry.

I tried it myself and there is enough math to keep my son thinking. He gets a to be a jedi with a light saber who goes around a maze of hallways killing bad guys and while trying to survive. He has to stop once in awhile and answer questions like which pie chart shows 1/10 colored in or what number in 693 is in the hundreds place or how many sides does a pentagon have.

For those worried about violence, it is cartoon violence against robots and there is no blood. I’d say it`s about as violent as Tom and Jerry, except the robots die (disappear). That may not be enough for some, but at least you know what you are getting into.

My son loved his Leapster, but he said he’s not going back. Didj is much better. He likes being able to customize the game. I like being able to track his progress and help choose what concepts he’s working on.

5 Stars Fun and Challenging
My 7 yo son wanted to play this game on his DiDJ so he saved and finally bought it. When it arrived, he desperately open the box and inserted the cartridge in the game console. A few minutes later he was enjoying , making noices and having fun. The questions provided in this game were something new for him so this keep him excited and inmerse in the game.

I asked hime the next day about some of the questions the game showed up and he was able to retain knowledge. That’s nice! He’s on advance math class :)

4 Stars Good game
I got this game with Sonic for my 6 year old’s Didj and although he plays sonic more, he loves this one. This one is a little more difficult so I like that it challenges him more but I don’t like the math question options as much. It still is teaching him so it’s not all bad, just not my favorite. He still likes to play it even after having it for months and I can go on the computer and choose what questions it asks him to try to keep it at his level.

5 Stars THe boy loves it
My son got the Diji for Christmas this year from Santa and he literally didn’t put it down for three days. With the after X-mas sales I got him this game. Along with other parents I worried that it may be too old for him (he is 6) and might be too much of a challenge with the math skills. No, he did just fine. He only asked me for a little bit of help, and thanks to his sister-who got online and spent some of his “credits” he has new challenges and new stuff for all of his games. Way to go Diji, keep the cool games coming and this will stick around for a long time.

3 Stars Leapfrog Didj Custom Learning Game Star Wars: The Clone Wars
Great game. My son loves it! He thinks he has the same game as his older brothers on the PSP! I love the didj and the best thing leapfrog has done is make their games customizable!!! That’s better than gold! Again thank you LeapFrog!

5 Stars Kung Fu Panda storybook
I bought this for my 4 yr old granddaughter and she reads it over and over again. She loves to “read” all by herself with this. It’s not just a toy, but a reading helper.

5 Stars Another good one by Leap Frog
So far, anything that leap frog has put out has been a winner in this house. I incorporated leap frog leapster and tag reader in my son’s homeschool as a type of award-reward!

5 Stars So fun!
My 4.5 yr old son loves this book! He “reads” it all the time, and I have noticed that his speech sounds are improving and becoming more clear. Great book!

4 Stars Kung Fu Panda
My son enjoys using the pen on big words he doesn’t know. It gives him a little more ease when he reads, instead of sitting there struggling. He’s in first grade.

5 Stars TAG!!!! coolest thing yet!
I really like the tag reading system! my daughter plays with this everyday!! Po is one of her favorites! along with the ariel princess one! they read the story fully or you can do it word by word, play games, and make sounds! very cool!!!

3 Stars Good, but there are better
My 3 year old loves the Backyardigans. This “game” is really a show/DVD. I want her to learn, which she has with the Dora game and the basic functions of the L-max. I wouldn’t spend the money on this game if I had it to do over again. NOT worth it. It is cute, but NOT educational.

5 Stars very good Leapster Product ! Ideal for young children !

3 Stars I’m not sure that this game is very educational….
My son loves the Backyardigans, and so, he loves this game!! I personally don’t think its all that educational and probably wouldn’t have bought it if I had tried it out first..

4 Stars for our disneyworld trip
i’m giving this to my 3 yr old son when we go to disneyworld. so he has not tried it yet. but he loves the backyardigans so i’m hoping it will entertain him for a little while. i read other reviews that it is not very educational n more like a video. that’s fine w/me as long as he likes it (even for a few minutes).

4 Stars Leapster-Backyardigans
My 5yr old was excited about receiving this, but immediately she started off on Level 2 and basically after a couple of days was done with it! a bit too ’slow’ for her pace. Definitley recommend for 4yr olds!

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Good games for preschoolers
My daughter just turned 4, and I got her Leapster 2 for Christmas. I decided on Ratatouille first, since we have the movie and games seemed suited to her abilities.

Graphics are not great, but work fine. Voices are identical to those in the movie. There are 5 games on the cartridge: sorting items into categories (by color, by food group), matching items (memory game; match letters, numbers, colors, shapes), cooking (choosing ingredients, adding them to pot, mixing, setting timer, putting on icing; includes ‘create-your-own-recipe’), catching things (they plop from the ceiling and Remy needs to be moved around to catch the appropriate ones), and surfing through sewers (also a catching game: catch specified items while avoiding wrong ones).

My daughter has been playing with this game for less than a week now and plays with it not for long, but 5-10 times every single day. She loves the cooking game. She figured it all out immediately and keeps going back to it all the time. (BTW, there is barely any difference between levels 1 and 3 in the cooking game.) Matching she also found easy (she doesn’t know letters, but was matching them without problem whatsoever, repeating sounds as Remy was saying them), in fact maybe too easy, because she much prefers cooking. Sorting is easy to do, but concepts get harder (e.g., sort items into fruits vs. meat and beans category) so she is not into it. She likes the surfing game but doesn’t do much with it. And finally, the catching game I myself find too hard on level 1 (items seem to drop too fast, I have no time to move Remy) so we haven’t tried it yet.

Problems: Occasionally (rarely) our Leapster just freezes, and we have to restart the Leapster. (This could be the console problem, not the game problem.) Levels of games don’t start intuitively. E.g., memory matching started off with letters and numbers even at level 1, whereas colors and shapes should clearly come first. Yesterday we discovered that the recipe book in cooking, which has 4 marked pages (spice cake, eclairs, tomato soup, and create-your-own) had only the create-your-own recipe remaining, and we couldn’t get the other ones back even by restarting the Leapster.

Summary: despite minor problems, I think there is a nice combo of games for different levels of different cognitive and motor capacities on this cartridge, so it should last for a long time. It seems to be a good beginner’s cartridge, as it doesn’t come on strong with reading and math skills which younger children may not have.

5 Stars A Great Game for the Leapster
Our daughter, 3, absolutely LOVES this game. We bought her the Backyardigans one but she couldn’t quite figure it out. However, she has no trouble with this game and really enjoys playing it!

5 Stars My kids love this.
I never get asked, “can you help me, mom?” with this one. They’ve been able to play independently with this game since day one of getting it. I do hear, “mom, has it been an hour already?” Which is my limit for any t.v. or “screen” activity. I really like this game.

4 Stars Daughter loves it!
My daughter received this game for Christmas last year & still plays with it all it the time!

5 Stars Great game
This is a greast game for the leapster. I got my grandaughter and grandson both a leapster and bought this game and several others and they loved them. This particular game has allot of educational value to it.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Very fun and educational
I got this OUTWIT game to go with my daughter’s Leapster this Christmas. She is consistently amused by it and finds it easy to navigate. I think this is a good educational game for pre-school and kindergarten age kids. The timed challenges are simple ones such as identifying the ‘misfit’ in a group of similar objects, recognizing patterns in a a series of objects, and memory match challenges. It might not hold the attention of an older child who has already mastered these skills, but would be great for young children.

5 Stars another good learning game from leapster
Before I gave the game to my son who is in first grade, I checked it out myself. In an entertaining way he gets to do the math he is learning at school. So yes, thru playing this game, his math skills are reinforced. For the occasional time he is not running around, and indeed wants to play with his leapster, this game gets my full approval.
