5 Stars perfect, met expectations
my 4 year old can play level 1 and I really enjoy helping him play

5 Stars Star Wars
Both my sons 6 & 4 enjoy playing this game. It uses basic math as tool to fight and advance.

4 Stars Star Wars Lego for Leapster is a Winner
My son asked for this toy — he enjoys his Leapster L-Max & he is a fan of Star Wars. I got it for him for Easter and he plays with it. He is six and the game challenges him and motivates him to develop his arithmetic skills in a stimulating and exciting way.

5 Stars Great for teaching math and time skills
My 7 year old son loves Star Wars The Clone Wars, so I knew he would like this.

The best thing about the game is the questions get more difficult as the player advances within the chosen level. So, though it may start with single digit number recognition, it advances to double digit number recognition. It may start with asking about general time of day, but then advances to specific time of day and then to reading time on a digital clock.

I recommend this game for pre-K through second grade.

A more detailed description is presented below.

______________________________________________

SPACE

Shoot the correct number to get to navigate through space to get to the ship where the prisoner is held.

Level 1: features recognition of numbers 1 through 10.

Level 2: features subtraction of single digit numbers.

Level 3: features addition of a two digit number with a single digit number.

THE SHIP

To get through the rooms, answer questions about time.

Level 1: questions feature time of day, like when do you usually leave for school (morning, afternoon, evening)?

Level 2: learn how to read time on an analogue clock to the hour.

Level 3: learn to read time on an analogue clock to the half hour.

LIGHTSABER DUEL

Answer the math questions quickly and Skywalker attacks. Answer incorrectly and the enemy attacks. The faster the player answers, the more power they get for their attack.

5 Stars My son loves it!
I really like the Leapster games because of their great educational value. For my son is a wonderful option since he loves to play and makes him realize that learning is like a game and not a boring thing to do.

5 Stars So Much Fun
This game is sooo much fun! Everyone in the house has spent time on it –including the adults :-) The critter crossing is the BEST!

5 Stars Leapster “Get Puzled!”
My almost 3-year old son got a Leapster2 with several games for Christmas. I figured he’d be all about the Cars or Diego games, but this one actually turned out to be his favorite an he plays with it most of the time.

There are so many different games to choose from on this cartridge, and his favorites are the bridge building and putting monsters back together.

I only wish I had the option to connect this cartridge to the computer and track my son’s progress like I can do with games that are Leapster2 compatible.

5 Stars The best game we’ve gotten so far!
For Christmas I got my son the Leapster and 4 games. Thomas the Tank Engine, Wall-E (cause they’re both brands that my son likes a lot), Sonic the Hedgehog (cause the reviews were great and it’s closer to a real video game) and “Get Puzzled.” Of all of these I thought Get Puzzled would be the last one he’d play. It was the one he gravitated towards right away and he absolutely loves it. All the games I bought got great reviews, but this was has by far held his interest. He’s 4 1/2 years old..and pretty smart for his age. The game wasn’t amazingly challenging for him (he skipped from level 1 to 3 most of the time) but it’s been a couple months and he still prefers playing this game over the others.

I will completely disagree with the parent who said it has no educational value. It absolutely does. In fact, of all the games that I got, I think it has the most variety.

Their are many different games in “Get Puzzled”….the one my son likes the most is a game that uses logic/problem solving/comprehension skills and teaches patience. It’s a space ship that you have to get from point to point on the screen until you get it to earth. There is a game that uses Math and shapes. A word search game that will show you 6 pictures (a drum, trumpet, piano, violin, guitar, etc.) and you’ll try to find the corresponding words in the word search. If you don’t know how to spell the word you can push on the picture and it’ll spell it out for you.

Overall…even though my son blew through the game pretty quickly, he continues to enjoy it and he continues to learn things.

I would recommend this game over any other game…absolutely. Even the ones with the more name brand characters.

5 Stars favorite leapster game!
My 4yr old daughter has 15 games for her leapster, and this is her favorite. It holds her intrest like nothing I’ve ever seen. She was so excited to gain all her “puzzle power”. I even enjoyed playing the level 3 puzzles with her. GET THIS GAME!

4 Stars Great product
I decided to buy it after reading all the reviews. My kids are 8 and 6 and they absolutely love it. My 6 years old needs help from time to time, but that really helps with his logical thinking. I tried playing it a little bit and it’s pretty fun!

3 Stars Good for Math Fact Practice But Limited
My 8 yr. old son received this before leaving on a long car trip just a few days ago. So far he loves it. I thought it would a great way for him to review math facts over the summer so they’re not forgotten. It looks like it will be good for that use if not played too often. Although he enjoys it, I was disappointed that there is only one game on the cartridge and there is no incentive to answer the questions quickly, which is what I was hoping for since so many schools require timed testing of math facts. Also there is no correction or assistance if the answer is incorrect, so kids can just keep on guessing with no thought to the correct answer. Also, each level is simply a different type of math function, but within each level there is no easy, medium or hard option. It’s just random facts, which I was a bit disappointed with as well. I have a feeling he will be bored from it quickly. If only a few more game variations were offered on the cartridge along with more difficulty levels, it could have been great one. But I would still recommend it for basic fact practice.

3 Stars it’s just ok
I got this for my 7 year old 2nd grader as a fun way to practice math facts (she hates flash cards). She and her 9 year old 4th grade sister agree that it’s fun, but it moves too slowly to really be engaging for very long. There is only one activity on it, and it is very much like another title “Number Raiders” that they have. They don’t play with either very much, and when they do they don’t play for very long (20 minutes, maybe?). So in the end not very many math facts get learned or practiced, although as a game it’s good for a bit of fun occasionally. Might be good on a trip or a rainy day to occupy some time.

4 Stars Leapster Arcade: Cosmis Math
Our kids have lots of the leapster games and they love playing them. I like educational toys that apply to what they are learning in school. This game makes math fun!

5 Stars Math is fun?????
With Leapsters Cosmic Math, it is!!!!!!!!!!! We have 3 Leapsters and tons of the games, and my kids LOVE learning this way!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 Stars great game
I purchased this game for my then 4.5yo and 6 yo last December. Both find it easy to operate but the math still makes them think.

Leapster Arcade Letterpillar

Leapster Arcade Letterpillar

This hungry Letterpillar loves to eat letters. Watch him grow as he munches his way through a lively arcade game that reinforces important early reading and spelling skills. Teaches phonics, uppercase and lowercase letters and word building. For use with the Leapster Learning System or Leapster L-Max Learning Game System, each sold separately.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Great Beginner Game
My son received the Leapster system for his 4th birthday as a gift. It comes with this game. While this game isn’t the most challenging, my son enjoys it. I am not sure at what level the previous reviewers children are at, but my son doing very well at school. Maybe they are academically beyond him. He knows all of his letters, their sounds, and can read three letter words. He can also write out all of the letters in the alphabet, uppper and lower. So while this game isn’t extremely challenging, he still found it fun. I haven’t found controlling the letterpillar to be difficult at all, as a previous reviewer said. The arrow buttons on the control respond fine when controlling the letterpillar. I think this game was great as a “free” game with the system, because it allowed him to get used to using the controller. And my son isn’t electronically deprived. He uses our personal computer all of the time to play games. He also has a V-Smile with other games. We wanted this as a portable gaming system. Again, it was a good first, free game. I have nothing bad to say about it considering I didn’t have to pay for it.

5 Stars Great letter review!
Found the letterpillar a fine afternoon rainy day breath of fresh air for my girls. Like that the letterpillar gets ill if it eats numbers. :)

2 Stars It’s educational
We bought cartridge for our 3 year old. We were going on a airplane trip and thought it would keep his attention. He used it for only 5 minutes and wanted the creature creation cartridge. He may get more into this one when he gets older.

2 Stars Letterpillar – doesn’t stack up to other Leapster games
While my 3 yr old and 5 yr old play this game some, it doesn’t compare to the other cartridges we own. There is only one game on the cartridge. It is simple, and I’m not convinced it has much educational value, as do most of the other Leapster games we have. I recommend you buy the Draw & Write or the Letter Factory. My children fight / “take turns” over those two games and they are educational.

5 Stars Great letter teacher, phonics, etc. lots of fun
My grand daughter loves this and Running on Zero, one for letter skills, the other for math. Both are fun, and teach the child. They challenge your child to try harder, for a better score, even though there’s no grading involved (the way it should be)
