3 Stars Good, but room for improvement
Our 18+ month-old really seems to like this, so she would probably give it four stars. I give it three. Overall, it’s a good toy. The two astronauts are about the same scale as Playmobil people, which means playmobil people can pilot the ship and drive the moon buggy. Oddly, the included dog and alien do not fit in the moon buggy or pilot areas, which writes off a whole slew of potentially interesting story lines for your child. How can the alien steal the ship or buggy if he doesn’t fit? The ship handle has a button with two soundtracks. One is a launch sequence and the other is just spacy sounds. I’m sure they could have packed ten more random sci-fi sounds in there. The doors pop off easily so that they don’t break off, which is good, but fastening them back on is a bit of a puzzle even for adults. A good aspect of this toy is that it is very much like a little dollhouse (there is a bed in the central compartment, for example), so it doesn’t have to be a rocket at all. Our toddler spends a fair amount of time putting creatures to bed in the central compartment. The moon buggy is quite popular by itself as well.

4 Stars good rocket ship for child’s imagination
After watching Wallace and Gromit’s quest for cheese, my 3 year old nephew loved the rocket ship. So for his birthday I was searching for something similar. Other rocket ship toys I saw were a bit too realistic – maybe good for older kids but too serious for little kids. This particular ship is whimsical, has neat little accessories, and is very simple to figure out. The only complaint was that parts came undone, but you could easily snap them back on. But my nephew loved the fun design and within minutes had multiple adventurous space travels with his astronaut friends, the dog, and the moon-buggy.

5 Stars Pricey but loved
Our son got this when he was 4, still plays with it at 5. All the kids, from 2 to 42, who visit our home love this rocket. We are going to get the Space Base, another toy that matches this one, by the same company.

Some of the rougher playing kids knock off the doors and hatches, but they always click right back into place.

5 Stars Great toy! A favorite in our house
This is a fantastic toy! When we first received it from my in-laws at Christmas for my then 18-month old, I thought “great, another noisy toy that will break in a week.” It’s now six months of solid use later and still looks and sounds like new. For the first two or three months both my kids (1-1/2 and 4-1/2) played with it on a near-daily basis. They still play with it at least once or twice weekly. I love that most of the parts fit inside the rocket (wish the alien and the crater fit, but we tuck them underneath). The hinges to the doors are made to come off without breaking in the event the kids get really rough with it, and easily go back on. Also, I think the alien glows in the dark (or at least seemed to when I saw it in my room the other night–might’ve just been a weird light thing going on). Like others have mentioned, don’t be scared by the price–this is a great toy–destined to become a classic.

5 Stars The Lift-Off Rocket is a blast!
I bought this product on Amazon for my grandson’s 2nd birthday, after first seeing it in a “high end” specialty children’s toy shop. It is colorful, easy for the children that haven’t yet developed their fine motor skills to play with and yet still has enough challenges to keep those that are adept with smaller objects.

He stopped opening gifts after laying eyes on his rocket and we couldn’t get it out of the packaging fast enough for him. He plays with it constantly, putting the figures in and out of the different cargo areas and driving around the little moon buggy. Even the 18 month old playmate has given this toy a heavy duty work out.

There will be more International Playthings items among our gift purchases for the little ones that we love.

4 Stars Fun but not perfect
This Hot Wheels track is a lot of fun! Unfortunately, we have to manually trigger the last stunt because the claw never drops the car on the target. Out of about 40 times the claw has dropped the car on target ONCE. But my kids still LOVE it.

5 Stars beat that
i like the game because the wheel that launches the car launches it like a special track and the crane lowers and drops the car on the switch that triggers all the cars on the sides and i like that the car in the middle goes off a ramp.

2 Stars Flimsy design
I ordered this for my 4 yr old (almost 5) grandson for Christmas. He has 3 of the other Hot Wheel tracks that can be connected to this starter set. I ordered it based on the positive responses on this site, however, this track was very flimsy and soon lost its appeal. We had the entire family room covered in tracks that had to be disassembled after the holidays. It’s all in a box in the corner now and I doubt if any of us will have the time or inclination to put it all together again. It’s a lot for an adult to deal with and even more for a child. I don’t think I’ll be purchasing any more Hot Wheels tracks!

4 Stars Wiz Bang Fun
We bought this for our 8 yr old son based on the reviews here. It’s really fun to play with and is quite durable. The only silly thing is, we can’t get it back into the travel box because one part just won’t come apart no matter what we do. We don’t really care but since we went out of town for Christmas, we couldn’t repack it when it was time to drive home. Otherwise, it’s great.

4 Stars Fun starter set for a child with patience
Our 5 year old son received this for Christmas, and he’s still loving it…which says a lot considering how many toys he has to choose from. If your child is relativly new to race tracks (like ours is), you’ll probably need to help him/her assemble it. It doesn’t take long to set up, though (5 to 10 minutes), and it seems to be holding up well to all the wear and tear so far (everything still works great after 20+ uses). You should be aware that the cars do need to be moved from one section to the next, and several of our sons cars from his personal collection did not fit into the launching section….so it might be a good idea to explain that to your child before he/she begins playing with it. However…all-in-all I’d say it was a good buy.

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars good toy for short play time
My kids played for a day or two before not playing anymore. The tricker is kind of hard for my kids to pull back/forth to get it working.

A toy is a toy, no toy will last forever, especially with kids.

5 Stars Boys Christmas
The item was what I was looking for. The time received was great. Thank you.

1 Star stupid gun ruins my day
these guns looks cool but within 2 uses of the ball shooter the handle broke and the dart shooter barely shot. Now I have over 50 dart blasters so I know witch ones are good, these are definitely not good. I AM NEVER BUYING ANYTHING FROM lanard AGAIN!!!!!!!!!, UNLESS, they fix up there guns and DON’T rip me OFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! long story short the gun aren’t worth the card board box there shipped in.

4 Stars My kids enjoy playing with these
When I got these for my 4 and 5 year old, the first thing my husband said was that he didn’t think they would be able to use them because they rely on pump action. They proved him wrong. Even my 4 year old girly girl likes to give the pump action a try and shot the foam balls. I actually like these better than the regular trigger nerf guns because the kids have to work on their coordination to use these, plus it’s a mini workout for their little arms, haha. They prefer the underhanded one with the foam balls to the overhanded one with the foam darts. The reason I gave it 3 stars for durability is because the hinge piece on the foam ball gun keeps coming off whenever they try themseleves to reload the balls. It snaps right back into place for me easy enough. I have since advised them to only pull from one end and hopefully this will keep them from continously pulling the whole piece off.
