5 Stars Melissa & Doug USA Map
I think this is a great puzzle. It is a good learning tool and also fun to put together! I bought it for my 2 1/2 year old grandson….

5 Stars Learning experience
The puzzle was a birthday gift for my 3 year old granddaughter. It has bright colors and I love the fact that the pieces are in the shapes of the states. She has learned several states already. It also helps her visualize which states her cousins live in.

1 Star Don’t buy this puzzle!!!! At least not for educational value.
You have got to be kidding me right? They are selling this product as educational??? I am from Michigan and once again Michigan is not represented correctly. I don’t know what the yellow blob is suppose to be, but it is part of Michigan. It is called the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and this map only has the lower peninsula blocked off as Michigan. Please don’t buy this puzzle.

5 Stars Fun for adults too
It’s a good puzzle to teach kids where the states are, especially since the pieces aren’t interlocking like a normal puzzle. It’s fun and educational.

5 Stars My son loves it.
My 3 year old son loves this puzzle, but does get frustrated sometimes because the state pieces are mostly all separated at the state line. I actually prefer that the state pieces are separated at the state line.

He loves flying and loves to show with a model plane where he has been on the puzzle. I think my son at 3 has flown more than I did till I was 30.

My son loves all the Melissa & Doug floor puzzles.

Trouble Board Game

February 19th, 2010

Trouble Board Game

It’s the classic race-and-chase game with the PopoMatic die-rolling bubble! Pop the bubble and hop your pegs around the track. Land on an opponent’s peg to bump it back home! But don’t you get bumped back, or you’re in Trouble! Keep poppin’ and hoppin’ to get all 4 of your pegs to the finish line first, and you win! Trouble includes plastic game unit with PopoMatic die roller, gameboard, 16 plastic playing pegs, and 4 rubber feet.

4 Stars Fun with a purpose!
Though I grew up with Trouble and loved it, I now use it in play therapy. It is a great tool for working with kids who have difficulty stopping and thinking before acting.

5 Stars Hours of fun
My five-and-a-half year old son received this game as a Christmas present and, hands down, it beats anything else that he received. He wants to play it night and day. To stir things up a bit, we’ve created our own new rules, such as “you have to move backwards for 2’s,” or “you can switch places with another player for 4’s” and it makes the game even more fun and interesting.

Trouble … it’s an oldie but a goodie!

5 Stars Trouble Game no Trouble
We bought this to keep in our house when my 6 year old granddaughter visits. She already has this game at her house. She loves the game and it is an excellent one to teach children the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat of board games. Simple to learn. Fun for all to play for two to four players. Self-contained, portable and Inexpensive.

2 Stars Pieces came deformed, game looks very cheap
After reading some of the great reviews, I got this game as a gift for my step-brother in-law who is five years old. I remember playing this when I was young and I had really enjoyed the popping dice.

The game arrived quickly, but several of the little plastic pieces came misshapen and deformed out of the box. It appeared that the plastic was melted (they are very hard pieces of plastic, so this could not happen easily). The game board also seemed very flimsy and cheap, like it will soon fall apart. It felt too delicate for a child to really play with. I am pretty sure the one I had growing up was a much better quality (it survived four crazy, wild, competitive siblings playing on it for years).

Because of the misshapen pieces only three people can play this game. Altogether a great embarrassment for me, as I am sure it looks like I got my step-brother in-law a gift from a dollar store.

I recommend buying this game from another store with higher standards and easier in store returns; try Kids R Us or Target.

5 Stars Jane’s Scoop
This is a great children’s board game and lots of family fun! I must confess, we “bend” the rules a little when only two of us are playing…..! This way we get to play “lots” more games!

This board game helps with finger dexterity plus it a great beginner counting game. In addition, it teaches patience. I reccoment this game to parents with children 3 and above.

The design of the game board itself could be improved, needs to be sturdier. The plastic bubble that holds the dice is very sturdy.

5 Stars colorful fun
I gave this to my 2- year- old granddaughter as part of her birthday gifts. It brought many smiles as she lifted the colorful pieces, named the animals, and placed them back in the appropriate spaces. I know it will last her a long time- very well made.

4 Stars melissa and doug great products
I bought these puzzles for my grandaughter who is 1 year old.

She is just learning to talk and wants so much to sound out all

the animal names. They are also very easy to grab and big enough

as to not get lost. She is very content to try and figure out

where each piece goes on her own. Great construction.

happy pop-pop

5 Stars Fun, durable, and colorful!
My daughter is 16 months old and she loves this puzzle. The pieces are thick and durable so it can withstand a little chewing on. The colors are bright and easy to tell the different animals apart. The pieces stay in their place pretty well so when my daughter is putting other pieces in they don’t slide around. It is also very helpful that the pictures are also underneath each puzzle piece. She will put the puzzle together and then take it apart only to do it all over again. Its a fun, educational, safe, and overall a great puzzle!

5 Stars Great Puzzle
This puzzle is very cute. I would have to disagree with the warning about choking hazard though, these puzzle pieces are very large and would not be able to be swallowed. I also would recommend this product for children under 3. Our son has had it for about 8 months now and he loves it. The puzzle pieces are so wide that each piece can stand on end, so he plays with them in the windowsill. The paint has chipped off here and there but he is very rough with them, and I sometimes wonder if the dog got to them!

5 Stars Fun and sturdy
I bought this puzzle for my 1 yr old daughter and I babysat several other children over a matter of 2-3 years, and this puzzle is still going strong. The paint still looks great. And it has endured, even after several of the babies “chewed” it. I have several of these chucky melissa and doug puzzles and they are great.

5 Stars Best investment ever
Both my boys have loved this puzzle to pieces. I bought it when my older son was just over a year old and he spent hours learning each shape and color and fitting it into the puzzle. Everntually I packed it away… and brought it out when my younger son started to show an interest in shapes. He loves it, too! I have to search the house for the pieces because he loves to carry them around. This is the best money I have spent on any toy to date.

5 Stars Loved it!
This puzzle was fun and educational. My 2 year old granddaughter could handle the shapes with those little fingers. After she realized they would stand alone, it became a train of shapes. The colors were vibrant and another lesson for her. Great fun for us.

4 Stars Great for learning
Bought this for my daugther when she was 9 months old.ow she is 2 and half years old. Still love these. This is what taught her shapes and colors too. She did great and the toy is still in great condition. Very impressed.

4 Stars Great for learning shapes and colors
My daughter got this for her first birthday and it helped her to quickly identify shapes and colors. I love all of Melissa and Doug’s products and this product is no exception. It is great because the pieces are so chunky and easy for a small child to manipulate.

5 Stars Great product
I ordered this to use with a student that has severe special needs. He is legally blind, and has some fine motor difficulties. I am happy to report that he is able to effectively pick up the pieces and put them into the correct spots with minimal assistance. The colors are nice and bright and the quality exceptional.

Chutes and Ladders

February 16th, 2010

Chutes and Ladders

Be the first to move your child-shaped playing piece from square one to square 100 on the Chutes and Ladders game board–but watch out! If you land on the square that shows you ate too much candy–Ouch!–you get a tummy ache and slide down a chute to a square a few numbers below. But if you end your turn on a good-deed square, such as helping sweep up a mess, you’ll be rewarded by a ladder-climb up the board.

A fantastic follow-up to Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders is ideal for younger children who are still learning to take turns and just beginning to recognize numbers (the spinner stays in the single digits). It’s also a gentle introduction to the higher numbers as players climb to 100 at the top of the board. And, thanks to all those chutes and ladders, it’s got enough excitement to keep your 7-year-old on the edge of her seat. English and Spanish instructions are included; no reading is necessary to play. Chutes and Ladders is for two to four players. –Julie Ubben

5 Stars Surprisingly simple, amazingly fun
My 3 year old niece loves this game. I gave it as a gift and she couldn’t be happier. It took a little time to get her to understand how to play, but once she did she really got into it.

2 Stars NOT a good toy
I got this game for my 3 year old and she and i didnt like the game at all. its also itant made well.

5 Stars Another fun game for the family
My 6 year old granddaughter loves to play this game with grandma. She loves to win, but she has also learned to lose once in a while. I recommend it to parents and grandparents. It is a great way to have fun with your children or grandchildren.

5 Stars game for my granddaughter
I bought this for my grandaughter she loved it and plays it al least once a day

5 Stars Chutes and Ladders Rocks!
I am so happy I bought this game. I never had one as a kid but I played last night for the first time with my daughter, 5 and my son, 3 and we had so much fun together. Although we get very busy we are going to start having several game nights a week. The game was interesting enough to hold my 3 year olds attention to the end which doesn’t happen often, they got to practice their counting and I got to explain ethics and morals. The “rules” were very easy to catch on to and their were lots of giggles and laughter! Don’t wait any longer to add this to your game room:)
