ThinkFun Rush Hour

ThinkFun Rush Hour

Honk! Honk! It’s gridlock and the little red car can’t move. The player is a traffic cop in the Rush Hour Traffic Jam Puzzle where the objective is to get the red car off the road. To play, pick one of 40 challenge cards; solutions are printed on the back of each card. Then set up the cars and buses in a specified pattern on the 6-inch-square road grid. Move the vehicles one by one (obey those traffic laws!) until the red car can escape the traffic jam. There are four levels of difficulty. Kids can alternate turns with another player or just “play in traffic” alone. The game from Binary Arts received a national award from Mensa and is used in elementary school math classes. The design includes clear instructions printed on the sturdy box, which can be used both as a playing tray and for storage. The game cards stow away in a drawer in the road grid. This is a 1999 Parents’ Choice recommended toy. –Marcie Bovetz

5 Stars So much fun!
We purchased this product for our waiting room (we see a lot of families in our office) and it has been a hit! Both adults and kids can’t wait to try the different puzzles! It is nice because the puzzles have different challenge levels, so there is always a puzzle for every age level. I would definitely recommend this product!

5 Stars rush hour game
I like the handy carrying case because it makes the game easy to store and transport. It’s a great way to improve your processing skills while having fun.

5 Stars Best toy purchase EVER!
My daughter has ADHD as well as learning disabilities. Her occupational therapist recommended this game and used it in her sessions. Even at 9 years old, she was somehow able to go through all the levels of the game (something which most adults can’t do).

I would have NEVER thought my ADHD child would love this game. I knew I did but she isn’t someone who sits down and concentrates on anything. I don’t know what makes this game special but it certainly accesses a part of her brain that other things don’t.

Whether you or your child can go through all the levels, this game is worth the money. It teaches planning skills, critical thinking skills, spacial skills AND it is fun.

I think this is my best toy purchase EVER! It is not something that could be played in the car though–too many pieces. But it does have a travel bag so you can use it at your destination!

5 Stars Great game!
My son will be 5 y.o. in several months. He started from junior set and finished it very fast. Now we have regular set (from 8 to adult) too, and he can solve all problems except #40. But it’s really hard. I can’t do it too. Great game for all ages!

5 Stars 8 year old loves it
My son received this for his 8th birthday. He loved it and enjoys solving the puzzles. The great thing is that he can challenge his young adult cousins to see who can solve a puzzle the fastest, so it is something that is not limited to children or to playing alone.

Ticket to Ride

Ticket to Ride

October 2, 1900. 28 years to the day that noted London eccentric, Phileas Fogg accepted and then won a L20,000 bet that he could travel “Around the World in 80 Days”. Now at the dawn of the century it was time for a new “impossible journey”. Some old friends have gathered to celebrate Fogg’s impetuous and lucrative gamble–and to propose a new wager of their own. The stakes: $1 Million in a winner-takes-all competition. The objective: to see which of them can travel by rail to the most cities in North America–in just 7 days. The journey begins immediately. Ticket to Ride is a cross-country train adventure where players collect cards of various types of train cars that enable them to claim railway routes connecting cities throughout North America. Included in this popular game made by Days of Wonder is a detailed board, game cards, help cards, rules, train miniatures, and more!

5 Stars Worth the money!!
I am what you would call a “board game enthusiast”, and this one fits the bill with gusto in my opinion as a challenging, exciting, competitive, straight-forward game for even those of us who are not age 8. I’m 23 and my parents are +30 my age, and we all love it and find it enthralling. I wish there were more games like this. If you enjoy monopoly, you’ll enjoy this one. Also, it has the added benefit of not taking as long to play as monopoly. I give it 6 out of 5 stars. Enjoy!

5 Stars Great Game!
This is a wonderful game for 2-5 players (best with more than 2 players), easy to learn, and takes 30-60 min playing time. Never gets boring and moves quickly!

5 Stars Great board game for kids and adults alike.
I’ve had this game for a few years now, and I must say this is one of the best board games I’ve ever played. I’ve introduced several people to this game, including family members that don’t like board games, and everyone has loved it. The game goes by quickly, with a full session taking about 45-60 minutes. Each player’s turn goes by quickly as well, averaging about 10 seconds for two of the normal actions (drawing train cards or claiming a route), and maybe 1 minute for the other action (choosing new destination cards– a somewhat uncommon event), so you don’t end up in a situation when each player is taking forever to play.

The game also tends to be fairly light hearted. No one knows where anyone else is going, so no one can specifically choose to try to block a specific person (likewise, that never seems to be an optimal move anyway). No one’s feeling should get hurt by the time the game has finished.

The overall quality of the peices of the game are also quite good. The board is very nice (but large), the train peices are a light plastic that holds up (but try not to step on them), and the cards are pretty durable. The box also holds all of the pieces quite neatly, so you don’t need to fumble around the box trying to find whatever piece you now need.

I would definately recommend this game to anyone interested in the least. You won’t be disapointed.

3 Stars Fun for awhile, replay value dwindles fast
Easy & fun game for awhile. But does get repetitive and boring. Catan or Roborally better choice for the money.

5 Stars Ticket to Ride
This is a great game! My family and I (we’re all over the age of 18) love it and play it every time we get together. It’s definitely not for younger kids. It’s a pretty easy game to pick up and teach others who have never played before. The only bummer is that only up to 5 people can play at once! We just wish at least 6 could play. I wouldn’t even try to explain the directions here because it might sound a little silly but it really is a fun game!

5 Stars twilight game
its a great game to own and play if you are a twilight fan..hours of fun for everyone

1 Star Not worth it
i just bought this the other day, excited. it really has like, nothing to do with twilight except for the pictures. there are more cards to do with dice rolls than there are trivia, and the trivia questions are way too easy.

save your money. wait till twilight scene it comes out.

2 Stars A bit of a let-down for Twilight fans…wait for Twilight Scene It!!!
I am a board game fanatic. I don’t know if that’s necessarily “cool” for someone who’s almost 22 years old, but my 18 year old sister and I purchased this game to play with a few of our other Twilight-loving friends. The game was pretty disappointing. There are 8 “scene” cards that you must collect, and you are able to do this by answering various trivia questions based off of the Twilight movie. Sounds fun, right? Not so much…the trivia is very basic, and on some spaces, you will have to answer a different trivia question, such as “have your friends write down their favorite food, which one do they like least?!”

In the end, for the price it really isn’t worth it…it’s rather boring! I gave it two stars, due to the fact that we did have fun asking each other the trivia, but that was mainly due to the fact that the instructions were so utterly confusing that we just gave up!

I am on staff at TwilightersAnonymous (dot) com, the best and most comprehensive Twilight community around; for those of us who are truly addicted to Twilight. If you don’t want a cure, come join us!

3 Stars Twilight Game – play by your own rules
I am nearly 40 and a huge Twilight fan. I got this game with a plan to have a Girls Game Night with other friends that I have gotten hooked on Twilight. Wine, food, fun, the soundtrack to the movie playing…you get the picture.

We got started trying to follow the directions but the challenge cards were confusing and downright silly. We finally abandoned them and played only the trivia questions (red daggers). Some of the questions were easy, some required a little more thought (especially for those who did not have such a severe Twilight obsession). If you are very familiar with the books you may get a few answers wrong, as it is only based on the movie and there are differences! (Example: the Biology teacher’s name)

The quality of the game pieces were not great – which was fine because it did get christened with wine accidentally later in the evening (smile).

We had a lot of fun playing, once we made our own rules.

1 Star uuuggghhhh
Would so send this game back if I hadnt already opened it up and tried to play it… The peices are really flimsy including the board. Just a complete let down.
