Trouble Board Game

It’s the classic race-and-chase game with the PopoMatic die-rolling bubble! Pop the bubble and hop your pegs around the track. Land on an opponent’s peg to bump it back home! But don’t you get bumped back, or you’re in Trouble! Keep poppin’ and hoppin’ to get all 4 of your pegs to the finish line first, and you win! Trouble includes plastic game unit with PopoMatic die roller, gameboard, 16 plastic playing pegs, and 4 rubber feet.

4 Stars Fun with a purpose!
Though I grew up with Trouble and loved it, I now use it in play therapy. It is a great tool for working with kids who have difficulty stopping and thinking before acting.

5 Stars Hours of fun
My five-and-a-half year old son received this game as a Christmas present and, hands down, it beats anything else that he received. He wants to play it night and day. To stir things up a bit, we’ve created our own new rules, such as “you have to move backwards for 2’s,” or “you can switch places with another player for 4’s” and it makes the game even more fun and interesting.

Trouble … it’s an oldie but a goodie!

5 Stars Trouble Game no Trouble
We bought this to keep in our house when my 6 year old granddaughter visits. She already has this game at her house. She loves the game and it is an excellent one to teach children the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat of board games. Simple to learn. Fun for all to play for two to four players. Self-contained, portable and Inexpensive.

2 Stars Pieces came deformed, game looks very cheap
After reading some of the great reviews, I got this game as a gift for my step-brother in-law who is five years old. I remember playing this when I was young and I had really enjoyed the popping dice.

The game arrived quickly, but several of the little plastic pieces came misshapen and deformed out of the box. It appeared that the plastic was melted (they are very hard pieces of plastic, so this could not happen easily). The game board also seemed very flimsy and cheap, like it will soon fall apart. It felt too delicate for a child to really play with. I am pretty sure the one I had growing up was a much better quality (it survived four crazy, wild, competitive siblings playing on it for years).

Because of the misshapen pieces only three people can play this game. Altogether a great embarrassment for me, as I am sure it looks like I got my step-brother in-law a gift from a dollar store.

I recommend buying this game from another store with higher standards and easier in store returns; try Kids R Us or Target.

5 Stars Jane’s Scoop
This is a great children’s board game and lots of family fun! I must confess, we “bend” the rules a little when only two of us are playing…..! This way we get to play “lots” more games!

This board game helps with finger dexterity plus it a great beginner counting game. In addition, it teaches patience. I reccoment this game to parents with children 3 and above.

The design of the game board itself could be improved, needs to be sturdier. The plastic bubble that holds the dice is very sturdy.

Cranium Wow Game

Cranium Wow Game

The classic game of Cranium just got an upgrade. Cranium Wow is the latest addition to the fast-paced, addictive, and downright fun family of games that manages to uncover a player’s talents–or lack thereof. Similar to its older sibling, Wow’s objective is to move around the board until you’ve reached Cranium Central, where your team completes its final activities to claim victory.

Cranium Wow board
A box chock full of at least 2,172 laughs.

Of course, advancing to the center of the board is where all the fun is had. Teams must work together to answer, sketch, sculpt, solve, act, hum, and more. Four card decks with 600 cards and 15 activities dictate what must be done in order to move forward–and make everyone laugh out loud. One of the great things about Cranium games is how much fun they make it to discover new talents among friends and family. With something for the artist, brainiac, actor, and wordsmith, it’s guaranteed to be a good time.

Maybe you’ve always wanted to use your best friend as a puppet to act out “milking a cow.” Or perhaps you want to prove you can draw “bed head” with your eyes closed. You might be eager to show off your vast knowledge of “The Hoff,” YouTube, and which came first, the toaster or sliced bread. If any of these are true, you should play Cranium Wow very soon. Why keep those hidden talents hidden when they’re so impressive?

Cranium Wow movers
Additional vinyl movers are sold separately.

Cranium Wow has introduced another fanciful twist on this game. While the box includes four colorful vinyl movers, there are a total of 12 out there to be collected. Each one is sold separately, has its own profile, and comes with a hat or hairdo that can be switched among any of the other movers. This means that the people you play with most frequently can have personalized movers to match their own personalities. Wow!

What’s In the Box

  • Game board
  • 600 new cards
  • 10-sided die
  • Tub of purple clay
  • Timer
  • Drawing pads
  • Pre-sharpened pencils
  • 4 customizable movers with interchangeable hats and hairdos

5 Stars very fun game
it is a very fun game, but need to know a lot of american culture and it may be kinda tough for people that havent grown up in the US; anyway, my family, friends and I have had a lot of fun playing it

5 Stars FUN!
This game is a blast to play with some close friends or family members during the holidays!

5 Stars WOW!
We love this game!!

As a family of 5, it gets a little old playing life or monopoly! This set is visually appealing to us and our older two children (ages 9 & 11). The 2 year old tries to play as well. It has been a little challenging for the young ones, however, we don’t have to skip too many cards to get to one they understand, and it really brings out their talents and skills, in a really fun environment! This game has brought out lots of support for family members, and is helping the kids feel comfortable with themselves, and to not be afraid to be themselves and act silly with the rest of us!

A very unique set. The mover pieces are just so cool!!

Even the price tag, for you bargain shoppers, is quiet good. We have a couple of more up-scale games that had a heavier price tag than most family games, but this one has them all beat, hands down. It’s worth every penny.

5 Stars The perfect party game
I love this game so much that I bring it to small parties whenever I can. I’ve played the original cranium game, but I like this one so much better because it is more current and “hip”. The only downfall to this is that after a few years, what was considered “cool” when the game was created is now out of date. Nevertheless, most of the aspects of this game is timeless and that is what makes it great. Much fun and my favorite board game by far.

5 Stars Its good
It is just a set of new cards to the original Cranium game. If you like that one (which is great) you will like this one.

Monopoly

Everybody remembers the Monopoly game – that’s why it’s still the most popular, most widely played, and best-selling board game in the world! Across the generations and around the globe, what other game brings back so many memories of wheeling-and-dealing family fun’ No other game has turned so many game playing moments into memories! Whether you’re discovering the fun for the first time or reliving the carefree days of youth, get out there and Buy! Sell! Mortgage! Build houses and hotels! And collect those rents! That’s what makes Monopoly the great American game – just ask Rich Uncle Pennybags! For 2 to 8 players. Game includes: game board, 10 tokens, title deed cards, play money, chance cards, community chest cards, 32 houses, 12 hotels and two dice.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Great toy
It’s still great toy for modern kids to get them interact with relatives and friends without computer

5 Stars satisfied with my purchase
This is the original version of monopoly.

Although house and hotels are plastic, the board game is solid and so are the cards and money.

Very highly recommended

5 Stars Monopoly
I enjoy playing all versions of this game, (except the card game. That one is lame.) It is a fun, and entertaining classic board game. I think I will always like playing it.

4 Stars Fun game/reminder of my childhood
This is a fun game with reminders of my childhood included. It’s nice to have a family game without electronics or new rules to learn, which so many of the games I grew up with have these days. Monopoly still teaches counting and money management skills! There is a new twist – the speed die, but it’s optional. The speed die helps you move the game along quicker in case you don’t have a full day to spend at the game table.

5 Stars This classic board game is always lots of fun
I own and have spent hundreds of hours playing this classic board game. It is loads of fun and great to play with your friends or at family gatherings.

Game includes a DVD, trivia cards, and dice — everything you need to gets started.

So You Think You Know Seinfeld…?
The Scene It? Seinfeld Deluxe Edition DVD game is a fun, entertaining way to challenge your brain while enjoying popular scenes from the famous hit television show. Before getting started players will benefit from using either the included quick start guide or the on-screen tutorial for a run-through of how the game is played. To set up the game put the included DVD into your player and choose one player as the DVD Master who will operate the remote control throughout the game.

Next, decide whether you’d like to play a shorter or longer version of the game and fold the included Flextime game board accordingly. Each player then chooses a metal token and places it on the start space. Each turn a player rolls both the numbered die and the eight-sided category die. The numbered die indicates how many spaces forward the player may move upon successfully completing the challenge associated with the category indicated on the category die.

Challenges associated with the various categories range from answering questions following a scene played on the DVD to answering questions indicated on the included trivia Cards. Once a player has made their way to the end of the game path, they have the opportunity to win the game by either successfully beating all players in a final All Play To Win challenge or by successfully completing the Final Cut challenge.

Alternatively, if a board game is not your style or if you’d simply like to entertain party guests throughout the evening, you may choose the Party Play function on the Main Menu of the DVD. In this mode the DVD shuffles among a variety of scenes and challenges automatically so that you and your guests can enjoy one great clip or puzzler after the other all night long.

Yada-Yada-Yada!
The Scene It? Deluxe Seinfeld Edition DVD board game is a witty, entertaining game that is ingeniously designed to engage an entire room full of players. The included DVD is full of hilarious clips and brain-busting trivia from all nine seasons of the witty television show. One of the best features of the Seinfeld DVD game is the Party Play option that allows fans and players to watch clips and answer brainteasers one after another on the DVD automatically without having to navigate with a remote control.

1 Star I’d Rather make my own suit!!!
This game is BEYOND boring! It is not worth $30 i spent and not even worth $10 to be honest! Please see T. Riley’s one star review, it is dead on and exactly EVERYTHING we were moaning about as we played for the first time. In the end, WASTE OF TIME AND WASTE OF $$$$$$

4 Stars Love Seinfeld – not as much a fan of the Scene it Game
I love Seinfeld. LOVE IT. But the game is not a Seinfeld trivia game. It is a Scene It game. I hadn’t played Scene it before so didn’t realize that it was more about what happened in the scene versus the show. I find watching it kind of slow. I love the trivia questions, but it doesn’t seem like there is enough for the ultimate fan. Great maybe for the casual fan, but the die hard fan, may consider it too easy. And then just leave them wanting harder, more challenging trivia. I do recommend the game overall just cautioning others on the downsides.

5 Stars Great for the true Seinfeld Fan (or fanatic!)
If you are a fan of the TV show, this game is for you! Lot’s of fun and a good variety of questions. Even non-fans can play as there are some categories that don’t require in depth knowledge of the show.

Great party game and the “party mode” makes for a laid back session if you don’t want to get the board out and play a more serious game.

4 Stars Perfect if they would fix the music!
I’ve been a Seinfeld fanatic for a long time, and the moment I saw a TV ad for this, I hopped on Amazon and made this purchase.

If you’ve ever played any version of Scene-It, you know what to expect. I’d add that the game does a good job of varying the questions and answers from the iconic lines/scenes/moments that everyone recognizes to the hilarious little details that only a diehard would remember. In addition, the off-the-screen trivia enriches my appreciation of the inner dynamics of the show.

MY ONE COMPLAINT (in addition to knowing Seinfeld better than my friends, who now refuse to play with me) is THE MUSIC. It’s NOT the immortal Seinfeld opening theme, but some cheap replica that sounds even worse because it’s such an obvious imitation. It’s so jarring that it knocks a star off my rating. Why the makers of this game didn’t secure the rights to use that song baffles me and significantly damages the experience of this game, which is otherwise great.

5 Stars Nice
Got this for my sister for Christmas. She loved. A must for any Seinfeld fan.

Mastermind

February 23rd, 2010

Mastermind

Test your code-cracking prowess with Mastermind, “the challenging game of logic and deduction.” The codemaker sets a code of four colored pegs–choosing from yellow, red, orange, blue, green, or white–and conceals it behind a flip-up shield. Your mission: replicate the code in 10 moves or fewer. With each of the codebreaker’s attempts, the codemaker uses red and white key pegs to offer cryptic clues about color and position. Make the game even more difficult by using multiple pegs of the same color or by leaving one or more peg holes empty. With more than 2,000 possible code combinations, every game is guaranteed to be a brain-bender. All of Mastermind’s components can be stored in the game board. Mastermind is for two players.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Too bad for those with big hands and fingers…
I love the logic of this game and couldn’t wait to share it with my husband. Unfortunately it is not as fun for him because he has very large hands and fingers which make it impossible for him to position the pegs in the holes. This is a huge dissapointment for both of us.

5 Stars Mastermine
This is an excellent toy. My daughter who is 42 remembers playing it when she was young and asked me to get it for her children.

They love it.

3 Stars Fun game, but bad colors
I had this game when I was a kid and liked it. I still do. I like the kind of thinking it takes, and I like to see how my opponent is thinking.

So I got one to play with my kids, and noticed some things about the Pressman version that make the game less enjoyable than the Invicta version I had back in the day:

- The colors in the new version are terrible. The plastic shield that hides the code from the code breaker puts the code into a dim light that makes it hard for me to distinguish the colors and compare them to the codebreaker’s colors that are in better light (I am not colorblind, and my son had the same problem). The old colors were bold, mostly primary, and visually distinctive: red, yellow, blue, green, white, and black. The new colors are namby pamby and easy to confuse: pink/magenta, turquoise/teal, fluorescent orange, purple, yellow, and white. I have to keep reminding myself that what I see in the code as “green” or “blue” is the same as the codebreaker’s “turquoise”, my “red” is his “pink”, my “purple” is the same as his “purple”, “yellow” is not “white”, etc. This is a logic game, not a color-recognition game.

- The shield keeps coming off and is a nuisance to reattach. The old shield just set down on top and was held in place by gravity. Simple.

A few other things:

- The box is really large. The old game came in a right-sized box. I think the idea is to just recycle the box since the board has storage space for the pegs, but I didn’t like playing from the storage space for some reason.

- There are some numbered holes down the side of the board that seem intended to be used for keeping score, but they’re not mentioned in the instructions and none of the pegs fit in them anyway.

My advice: get this game, it’s a good one, but try to find a used Invicta version somewhere.

4 Stars A GREAT THINKING GAME!
I remember playing this game back in the 70’s when I was a kid and I absolutely loved it!! Then my 11 yr. old son asked for it for Christmas and I was so happy to see they are still making it. We have played it almost every night since then and it’s nice to see him interested in a game other than a video on TV! It’s only for 2 players, but you will really enjoy this!

5 Stars mastermind review
excellent product from ages 5 or 6 through adult. easy to learn and makes you use your brain. i never bought the kids’ version – just went upon recommendation of another review and i only use 3 pegs to play with my 6 year old and it works perfectly for her.
