Hasbro Electronic Hyper Slide

March 31st, 2010

Hasbro Electronic Hyper Slide

Be quick as you flick, slide or shoot the different-colored hyper discs under the arch. As the game unit calls out the sequence of colors for you to pass, the game “knows” if you’ve passed the right disc or not. Pass ‘em fast before the buzzer blasts! Obey the voice commands, get your brain in the game and break the code, or guess which color will be called next. Play with a friend or practice solo.

Tabletop slide-and-pass excitement features electronic lights and sounds, plus an announcer’s voice that talks you through three fast-sliding game modes. Electronic game unit comes with four Hyper Discs, each a different color; plus Hyper Band and instructions. Requires 3 “AA” batteries (not included). For 1 or 2 players.

5 Stars More fun than I thought!
I had seen advertisements on TV about this game–but I didn’t think it looked like it would be that much fun. However, after reading the positive reviews here I thought I would buy it for my son’s birthday. It actually is a lot of fun. Plus, I can actually win more often than not. Normally winning isn’t that important–but since I lose to my son when we play video games–it’s nice to have a game that helps me regain some respect!

5 Stars Quick fun game
Base houses small pieces so I just have to toss the unit in the closet without worrying where the pieces went. Fun for all ages.

4 Stars great for one or two of any age
For people who enjoy memory games, hyper slide is as much fun for children as teens or adults. Anyone who likes to challenge him or herself on remembering patterns or figuring out patterns will like playing. On the upside, it can be played with one player for when your 11 year old wants to play and an opponent isn’t available. On the downside, the ‘voice’ is pretty loud and you can’t control the volume so it’s not conducive to playing in the same room as someone doing homework!

5 Stars Hyper Slide the fast passn’ action game
Hasbro Electronic Hyper Slide

Hyper Slide is total FUN! It’s the ideal game for camping, lounging around at home or as a way to pass time on an outing.

This game helps you to concentrate, listen, and react as quickly as you can to get the discs through. It has three different game challenges that allow you to choose your comfort zone.

Hyper slide does not give you a lot of time to chat and converse–the object of the game is speed and concentration. If your children need to improve their listening and attention skills this is a must have for them. They will have to concentrate and listen to WIN!

If you want a game that you can enjoy with your kids but does not require a lot of “brain work” then this is the game for you. You can play it on a table or on the floor and it can easily fit in your bag.

Grandparents will even enjoy playing this game. Need I say more?

4 Stars Really cool game for 1 or 2 players
It took my kids a couple of weeks after Christmas to give this weird looking toy a try. Once we got it out and read the instructions it was a hit! Two of my children can sit across from each other and play (kind of like a cross between air hockey, & simon. You have to slide the correct color in a certain amount of time to keep the game going. It has a neat band that goes on so just one player can play and the pucks come back to you. Our ages are 3,7,9,& almost 11 and we all love it.

(The 3 year old can’t really play it, but he thinks he can)

Apples to Apples Party Box Edition

March 30th, 2010

Apples to Apples Party Box Edition

Apples to Apples is the wild, award-winning card and party game that provides instant fun for four to ten players. It’s as easy as comparing Apples to Apples. You can just open the box, deal the cards, and you’re ready to play. Select the card from your hand that you think is best described by a card played by the judge. If the judge picks your card, you win that round. And everyone gets a chance to be the judge. Each round is filled with surprising and outrageous comparisons from a wide range of people, places, things, and events. Fast moving and refreshing, Apples to Apples is perfect for any get-together with family and friends.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Fun
the more people whom play this game the more fun it is. this game is laughable and interesting.

5 Stars Really awesome!
I love this game! Other reviewers have said it all. But, it’s fun.

The only catch is that you can really just create a bunch of cards at home and make your own version for free! It might even be more fun because it’s personalized. If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t bother buying it.

5 Stars A Fun Game for All
“Apples to Apples” is such a fun game, have enjoyed it with many different groups of friends and relatives, young and old alike.

The game can also cause some interesting discussions about the reasons for picking one answer over another.

5 Stars Fun and educational
I have a class of extremely reluctant high school students, but they get really involved in this and don’t actually realize that they are expanding their vocabulary while they play.

5 Stars Easy to Play, Enjoyable Word Association Game
It is understandable why Apples to Apples has become so popular. Because it is a simple word association game, a group at a family gathering or a casual get-together can easily be persuaded to play. What makes the game a standout is that the psychology of each player is on exhibit, providing a great deal of group entertainment. Everyone gets a chance to be the judge: With each new round, a new person takes on this role, in which he or she must pick the best match for the green adjective card. Everyone else picks up subject cards, from which they choose the one they think the judge will select as the best association. The items on the subject cards present a broad range of topics including people and places, entertainment and sporting activities, science and nature and food, history and culture. Even poison ivy and off-the-wall topics like pond scum come into play!

Studying and understanding the psychology of the judge of-the-moment is a critical aspect of winning the game. One can get a clue from the cards he or she discards when not the judge. Is the judge-of-the-moment goofy and given to oddball or off-the-wall matches, or staid and given to straightforward connections? I have had a number of situations in which my card was chosen because it made for an amusing or “contrarian” fit, and I have done the same as a judge. There can still be skill at winning because more often than not, judges will pick something that is similar in an ordinary way. But because of the subjective element along with twists, subtleties, and ironies, anyone can win. Even when one does not win the overall game, there is enjoyment in being picked by the judge for an amusing match that makes everyone laugh or shake their head.

USAopoly The Beatles Monopoly Game

March 28th, 2010

USAopoly The Beatles Monopoly Game

The Beatles Collector’s Edition of the Monopoly game provides Beatlemaniacs and music fans the opportunity to create their own private anthology of music by collecting Beatles albums including Abbey Road, Rubber Soul and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Measures 1.25″L x 10″W x 1.25″H.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Beatles Monopoly
Have always loved Monopoly and when I saw the Beatles version, I had to have it seeing that my husband is English. Loads of fun and it’s a great version of the original.

5 Stars Beatle Themed Fun, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!
This Beatle themed version of Monopoly is ideal for the inveterate Beatle fans. From the Beatle-song named pieces (my favorites are “Here Comes the Sun” and “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer”) to the stops on the board named for places in the Beatles’ lives are sure to delight fans of all ages. As you go down the Long & Winding Road acquiring property, try to dodge the Taxman or he’ll charge you a percentage of your savings.

It’s more fun if you play some Beatle songs while you’re playing the game. That will really get you even more into it. We added a rule – if you end up in jail, you have to sing “Help!”

Yes, a fun way to have a Beatle bonding session. I love this game!

4 Stars New twist to an old game
We found playing this version of Monopoly very enjoyable. For me, however, the game lasts too long. We listened to our entire Beatles music catalog countless times while playing. Got great laughs when a feature within the game corresponded to a song or lyric on the stereo.

If you like the Beatles but not Monopoly, enjoy the music while you play and you should enjoy yourself. I recommend any fan of the Fab Four try the experience at least once.

4 Stars Perfect for The Beatles Fan!
Fun game, especially if you know your BEATLES… but as a game, I personally prefer the original game!

4 Stars it is a gift
i bought it as a gift and my friend is a huge fan of the beatles and loves monopoly. At least he made me believed that was the best gift ever.

Fundex Bulls Eye Washers

March 18th, 2010

Fundex Bulls Eye Washers

This game is similar to horseshoes but much more fun. Players heave washers at a solid wood box and score three points for hitting the center bulls eye cup and one point for landing in the box. The first player or team to reach 21 wins. Boxes hook together for easy portability. Includes two wooden boxes and eight washers.

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars Fun Game, Poorly Assembled
Washers is a really fun game. Unfortunately this product is poorly built. The very first time we played a game with it, one of the plastic tubes broke off after being hit by a washer. (They’re supposed to get hit by washers- but they’re supposed to say in place!) Also, after playing that first game, one of the two latches holding the box together wouldn’t shut.

If you’re a handy person, these are not difficult things to fix (so far), but I’m wishing I had bought a better-made version by a different manufacturer.

5 Stars Super fun game!
If you’re a fan of horseshoes, you’ll love this washers game! It’s the same basic concept only instead of tossing heavy horseshoes, you’re throwing washers! It’s great for kids too!

The only problem I found with the game was that the box is made of a relatively soft wood that dings very easily. After a while, the box looks pretty beat up from the washers banging on it. No harm in it though because it doesn’t affect gameplay.

Great game to have on hand for outdoor use. I have a small backyard so there aren’t many games that can be played when I have people over but this works out perfect. Everyone always has a blast when I take it out.

5 Stars The Family Game!
This is a game I learned about through a friend and fell in love with it immediately. This is truly a great family game that everyone can enjoy. It teaches strategy, hand / eye coordination, teamwork, etc… Plus it is fun! Easily transportable, compact, and has brightly colored pieces to find if you miss the boards. The best part, if you lose a washer, just run down to the local harware store and buy one! A must for every picnic or get together.

4 Stars Washer Horseshoes
I have seen many of these washer pitching games in use that are hand made. But I really liked the professional clean look of this game and the fact that it closed up into a box so conveniently. I used this game at several events recently and it was a big hit with many of my guests. This is a quality game that is lots of fun and can be taken anywhere.

5 Stars Great Game
This is a great game. We bought this for Memorial Day picnic. Everyone could play. Unlike horseshoes, the women all loved the game. It’s easy to transport. There’s nothing to not like about this game. The coated washers are easy to find in the grass.. We loved it.

Phase 10 Card Game

March 16th, 2010

Phase 10 Card Game

Fundex Phase 10 Game By Fundex

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars A Family Game Night Keeper
Phase 10 is a great family fun game–enjoyable for 7 year olds on up.

The idea is to finish one phase and then get rid of the cards left in your hand. Be the first to finish all 10 phases and win the game.

The typical game lasts about an hour.

To start each player is dealt 10 cards and they all work on Phase 1, which is getting two sets of three similar cards. three 5’s and three 12’s, for example. Once you’ve laid down your phase you’re ready to discard your cards and move on to next phase. You can play for points or play to be the first one out.

It’s a good game to teach younger children sequences, and counting; and challenging enough to keep kids of ages interested.

Since it’s a card game, the durability isn’t long lasting–depending upon how rough you are with cards.

Easy to pick up, and entirely fun.

5 Stars Great game, nice to change things up
We like Rummy, Yahtzee, Scrabble, Uno, those types of games, and a friend brought over Phase 10 so we tried it. It only took a few minutes to get the hang of it, especially if you know how to play Rummy so you’re familiar with making runs like 3 of a kind, etc. I couldn’t believe how much fun this simple game was. Definitely recommend it, it was a lot of fun.

4 Stars Phase 10
I love the card game we play weekly here in Iraq. It helps passes the time a way It’s a great famiy game. I hooked on it.

4 Stars Just Excellent, Never ending Fun

We really love this game, 2-6 players, 10 phases but You could create more phases as well. we play 15 :)

4 Stars Great change from just Rummy or Solataire
