Parents Busy Zoo

A large wooden cube that offers a variety of colorful animal-themed activities on all four sides and on top, activities include rolling beads, doors that open and close to reveal animals, spinning letter and animal blocks, and a set of rotating blocks that form silly mixed up animals, or real ones when the sides align properly. At one year, children aren’t ready to do more than move objects randomly. Our youngest testers found some of the activities easier to manipulate than others. With so many different types of activities, it’s best to introduce and try to master only one age-appropriate activity at a time. Then, as a child’s competence grows, introduce another.

I purchased this item as a first birthday gift for my grandson. It seems to be his favorite! It is the perfect height and stable enough for him to sit or stand at while he plays. While he enjoys his other toys, this one requires no batteries and is “kid powered”!

4 Stars Great toy, but shop around and watch your child with it
My daughter really enjoys this toy. We’ve had no issue with pealing paint and it seems well-made. Make sure you shop around as the price really can vary. We bought it for $50 from Target. I don’t know if they changed it, but the corners on ours are somewhat rounded, so there shouldn’t be any injuries with it that way. The issue we’ve had is that our daughter pulls up on it and the thing tips over on her. I wish it was heavier at the base so it couldn’t tip over. As is, whenever she plays with it, someone has to sit on the other side and hold it. I do think it will get years of use as the toys lend themselves to being played with at many stages of development.

5 Stars Great Toy!!
I bought this product for my 8-month old son and he loves it still to this day. It’s bright, colorful, and has plenty to keep him interested. The babies in my playgroup ranging from 1 to 2 years also love it when they come over to play.

My son did tip it over twice when I first bought it for him because he used it to lean back and sit down (something a 1 year old would probably not do hence the recommended age). He realized it and stopped. It never would have gone over otherwise, and even when it did it wasn’t a fast motion, or anything I felt would hurt him.

I haven’t had any paint issues. Maybe take it out of the box and check the condition before buying? I like that all the pieces are screwed on including the small knobs on the doors.

I also bought mine from Target for around $50.

5 Stars My daughter loves this toy!
My daughter has had this toy since she was 6 months old. She is 12 months now. She loved it then and she loves it now! She would play with all of the sides of the cube when she was younger, and now she likes to play with the top, though she still plays with both! I have not experienced any peeling paint as others have said. Overall, I get the impression that this toy is very well constructed and durable! I recommend this toy to anyone with a baby 6 months+!

5 Stars Enjoyed by both 1 and 4 year old boys
First impressions: The one year old likes playing with the beads on

the top and opening the doors providing he can get his four year old

brother out of the way. The four year old also likes playing with it!

5 Stars Best investment ever
Both my boys have loved this puzzle to pieces. I bought it when my older son was just over a year old and he spent hours learning each shape and color and fitting it into the puzzle. Everntually I packed it away… and brought it out when my younger son started to show an interest in shapes. He loves it, too! I have to search the house for the pieces because he loves to carry them around. This is the best money I have spent on any toy to date.

5 Stars Loved it!
This puzzle was fun and educational. My 2 year old granddaughter could handle the shapes with those little fingers. After she realized they would stand alone, it became a train of shapes. The colors were vibrant and another lesson for her. Great fun for us.

4 Stars Great for learning
Bought this for my daugther when she was 9 months old.ow she is 2 and half years old. Still love these. This is what taught her shapes and colors too. She did great and the toy is still in great condition. Very impressed.

4 Stars Great for learning shapes and colors
My daughter got this for her first birthday and it helped her to quickly identify shapes and colors. I love all of Melissa and Doug’s products and this product is no exception. It is great because the pieces are so chunky and easy for a small child to manipulate.

5 Stars Great product
I ordered this to use with a student that has severe special needs. He is legally blind, and has some fine motor difficulties. I am happy to report that he is able to effectively pick up the pieces and put them into the correct spots with minimal assistance. The colors are nice and bright and the quality exceptional.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars My 2 year old loves this toys.
Great Size truck for little ones and big ones to push around and fill with other toys to dump.

5 Stars Lots of fun!
We got this for our nephew for his first birthday. He immediately started pushing it around with a huge grin on his face. It was the perfect gift. the truck seems very durable and should withstand him beating on it over the years.

4 Stars Boy toy
The natural thing a little boy wants to do is climb into the back of this truck. There is a warning of course, but tots can’t read. So it requires constant vigilance by guardian.

The other problem is the scoop is hard and awkward to use. It keeps flopping around during play also.

Positively, my grandson loves it at 17 months. I am sure it will be great fun in the backyard this summer.

5 Stars Good Truck
This is perfect as a first truck. Everything physically about this truck is great, the only problem I had was that the amazon description listed it as including WAY more blocks than I received with it. I then called to order a replacement and they sent me the same amount of blocks again! Luckily I hadn’t sent the other box back yet, so I called to let customer service know that I was removing the appropriate amount of blocks from the first truck to add to the second truck. It seems as though they dont have an accurate description and it only made it more frustrating when the person on the phone barely spoke english. I was tempted to hold all of the blocks hostage to make up for the trouble, but decided to call it a wash and let it go. I wish customer service was staffed by more english speaking and articulate people.

5 Stars Great first truck!
My one year-old grandson absolutely loves this toy. It is well made, great for little ones to push around and load up and is excellent value for money.

Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Say Please Tea Set

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Cute as a Button!
Cute as a button and easy for little fingers to hold and maneuver. The pieces of cake are Shape-Sorters for busy little minds. The “Say Please” tea pot is a wonderful way to gently remind children about that magic word “Please” … Great idea! Worth every penny!

5 Stars teapot
My eight month old daughter loves this toy! I got it for her when she was six months and she has enjoyed playing with it nearly every day since. The sounds and songs are really cute and she loves pretending to drink from the cup. Even my older niece (3 yo) enjoys it.

5 Stars Very cute!
My daughter got this for her birthday when she turned one, she dances to the songs and she loves playing with it almost everyday. The only downside is that there are only two songs, it does teach some useful phrases such as when you open or close the lid and makes gurgling sounds when you tip it to pour “tea”. Overall its a excellent product and my daughter really enjoys playing with it.

5 Stars tea party
2 year old Daughter loves it, very cute she just keeps wanting to put water in the tea pot to make tea.

5 Stars Adorable!
My daughter just received this toy as a first birthday gift. It is absolutely adorable! She holds the teapot and presses the buttons that play different songs (in a slight British accent–too cute), and she rocks back and forth, back and forth, back and forth to the music. We love watching her play with it!

LeapFrog Learn and Groove Animal Sounds Guitar

January 22nd, 2010

LeapFrog Learn and Groove Animal Sounds Guitar

Sing away while the animals play! Through rhythm, rhyme and sing-along songs, little ones can rock out and sharpen learning skills like counting, numbers and animal sound recognition. Younger learners can play with the guitar on the floor, pressing the fret buttons and turning the knob in the center. Older tots can engage in true rock-star style, holding the guitar while it plays. Three fun learning modes can be used in both English and Spanish. In Number Mode, whimsical songs introduce counting. Animal Mode helps kids make the connection between animals and their sounds. And Music Play Mode encourages tuneful freeplay as kids jig along to a lively rendition of “Old MacDonald” while activating a chorus of wacky animal sounds. Requires 3 “AA” batteries, included. Measures 13.5″ x 6.5″.

5 Stars Awesome little guitar, just a bit heavy for 12 months old
My son is obsessed with guitars. Ever since my husband started playing all he wants is guitars. He got a little wooden toy guitar for Xmas and didnt part with it for the nex 2 weeks, in which time he destroyed it – literally from banging every single surface with it. So, now in time for his first birthday I looked around for a more durable guitar for him. I was a little concerned that it doesnt look much like a guitar, but to my son it does. He LOVED it from the first moment he saw it. Its his favorite toy, no doubt, and it is pretty durable so far it hasnt broken at all, and he drops it a lot, because it is a little bit too heavy for a 12 month old. Thats really my only complaint, but I expect that within a few weeks, he would have worked it out, and he’ll only love it more.

It talks in English and Spanish, and you can switch it from counting, letters, and melodies. Its really nice.

3 Stars LeapFrong Learn & Groove Guitar
Not so crazy about this guitar. It’s a pretty good educational toy, but not much of a guitar if that’s what you were aiming for. The shape is about all that is guitar-like. They barely realize they are strumming a guitar for all the background stuff going on.

4 Stars Toy Guitar
Fun toy for a while, didn’t really keep the attention of my nephew for too long. But he did love playing it!

5 Stars Above expectations
When I went searching for an easy to use toy guitar that wouldn’t bore the special needs child I was getting it for I was lucky enough to stumble on this one. Not only does it play music it does numbers and animal sounds and spanish.

My favorite feature of this guitar is that it offers several ways to trigger the interaction. The child can either hit the green bar in the handle turn the red nob or push the blue lever. The child I bought it for has some fine motor skills issues and some learning delays he quickly mastered the nob and the green button and was entranced by the bright colors and variety of tunes it plays.

It’s very durable the things been dropped or flung dozens of times and doesn’t show the slightest bit of wear and tear. I’m very tickled with this purchase and will be repeating it again soon.

5 Stars Leapfrog Guitar
According to my son and daughter-in-law, this is my two year old grandaughter’s favorite toy.
