User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Good product
This product is more educational tool than a toy. I have 3 and 5 years old kids and they love to play with it while they are learning counting, adding, and subtracting. This is a great product.

3 Stars unsteady base
The base on the abacus I got is badly warped. I will have to somehow build up a corner or edge to keep the abacus from rocking too much. I imagine this is not a common problem.

3 Stars Good product
We bought this for our 3 year old, so that he can develop his counting skills – so far he has not shown much interest in using it for counting. But it seems like a sturdy and colorful abacus and we are hoping he’ll soon develop interest in using it.

5 Stars Excellent choice
I bought this for my friend’s daughter for her second birthday. According to my friend, her daughter opened it and immediately played with it for a full forty-five minutes. She loved it so much that before the week was out, she was saying “Good night, abacus!” along with good night to Mommy and Daddy.

3 Stars Not a real abacus
Although many reviewers tout this toy as highly educational, I find that beyond working on color recognition, fine motor skills, and simple counting, this toy is very limited because it is not a real abacus. Yes, it has beads on wires that you push back and forth, but it doesn’t have the right number of beads grouped together. There should be groups of two beads and five beads in a row–not 10 all together.

Perfection

Perfection

Even adults will be challenged by attempting to fit all 25 pieces into place before the 60-second alarm sounds. These complex geometric shapes need to be matched with the appropriate hole before the whole tray pops up and sends them flying in an explosion of yellow plastic. Any number of kids can take turns trying to beat the clock, and then to beat each other’s best times. For younger children who are still learning to recognize shapes, the game can be played without the time pressure. Kids will soon develop speed and accuracy so much they’ll want to take on Mom and Dad. –Lynne Sampson

4 Stars Perfection
great toy! used for Special needs children. teaches great fine motor skills as well as academic.

5 Stars Great fun for the entire family
I bought this game for my 9 yr. old nephew and he loves it. I remember having so much with this game when I was a kid and it has not lost its appeal. It quickly become the most popular game in my sister’s home.

4 Stars Fun for kids over 5
My daughter had this game years ago and loved it. I purchased it for my grandson, 4 years old and he liked it but didn’t have the patience for it. I suspect he will enjoy it more a bit later. All in all, I would recommend it for children 5 and over. If you have a crawling little one in the house, be careful that all the pieces get picked up and put back in their slot (back of game) as they could easily be a choking hazard.

5 Stars Love Perfection!!!
I bought this for my kids and find that this is still the great game I remember from my childhood!! You set the timer and try to fit all the differently shaped pieces into their adequate spaces BEFORE the time dings and the pieces all jump back out their holes. Sounds simple and easy but it is a lot of fun. We had some family visiting during the holidays and I believe everyone from age 5 to 51 played it at least once!! The kids just love to beat the adults. You just have to be careful not to lose any of those little pieces!

5 Stars One of the classics
When our kids got this oldie but goodie this year, it was a struggle for me not to tear it out of their hands to play first! I loved this game as a kid, and now our children are discovering how much fun it is too. I love that it does NOT need batteries, the entire game is lightweight, and the pieces are sturdy *just look out if the dog gets one of them after they pop up! The race to match each piece to its home before the timer runs out and the gameboard jumps up at you is enough to keep old and young alike in stitches. We did a few rounds with everyone at the table this holiday and there wasn’t a loser in the bunch, we all cheered each other on! The little ones are loving that they’re challenging their coordination skills, and the adults are realizing how easily distracted we can get when the clock is ticking. A perfect family game. Enjoy.
