5 Stars Educational Toy
My daughter loves this toy. It helped her learn five colors and shapes, and we also used it as a therapy toy when she was young (fine motor skills).

4 Stars entertaining
My 9 month old is more interested in chewing the shapes , tossing them in the bucket and pouring it out than to shove and sort the shapes into the correct mold. Overall, it’s a fun toy and he enjoys it.

4 Stars Serves its purpose
It is a simple toy that gets the job done and serves the purpose. It is nice that there are 2 pieces for each shape. I’m sure we will continue to use as language skills are acquired.

3 Stars Not Impressed
I don’t like it. It’s small and the lid comes off way to easy. I know that babies play with it and they should be able to get their shape blocks back out but in the process of her trying to put the shapes in there she knocks the top off.

I’m looking for a better shape sorter.

1 Star This toy contains carcinogens?
I bought this for my baby months ago, and he has never had much interest in it. I’m glad of that now, since I saw the Prop 65 warning to California residents on Amazon’s description of the toy. I’m offended that Fisher Price seems to think that it is okay to sell toys that contain dangerous chemicals to children. Plus, the toy isn’t that great!

As other reviews mentioned, the top easily pops off of the toy giving babies no incentive to use the shape sorter function of the toy. My son would usually just grab the lid and knock the thing over. Then he would go on to the other toys that were more interesting for him. I would not buy this toy again or recommend that anyone else do so.

Rummikub

Rummikub is played with a set of 106 elegant tiles that are as durable as they are easy to handle. Like Rummy, players build melds of run of the same colors – Red 7, Red 8 and Red 9 – or sets of the same numbers – Blue 8, Red 8 and Black 8. If you’re looking for a fast action game where the outcome is undecided until the last play and has a never-ending variety of strategies and play situations, you’ll love Rummikub! For 2 to 4 players. Game includes: 106 engraved plastic tiles, 4 sturdy two-tier racks, 8 rack holders, and instructions.

5 Stars Great Game
You cannot go wrong purchasing this game. It’s perfect for teens to adults. We spend hours playing. It is very easy to learn and the games go quickly.

5 Stars Have fun and improve your mind at the same time
This game is incredible….challenges visual perception…mental acuity…number recognition and alignment….is an excellent way to keep the mind alert and exercise cognitive and visual perception while playing a game. Also good for eye hand coordination. Great for people with dyslexia and other learning disabilities.

5 Stars BEST EVER FAMILY FUN GAME
My mom introduced us to this game, and we played it the first time to humor her. It proves the old adage that truly “MOM knows BEST!” This is a game you can come into with no knowledge of the rules and enjoy your first round of play; in fact, you may even WIN your first round!

It causes you to THINK, yet you don’t feel like you have to WORK too hard to be successful. The analytical types will resonate with Rummikub the most, and it’s for THEM that the 2 minute rule exists! They’ll take forever if you let them because they can SEE all the options through that analytical portal in their brains many of us lack. USE THE TWO MINUTE RULE!

We have a huge family, will be together for family vacation this weekend, and we intend on bringing SEVERAL Rummikub sets and having either (1) two simultaenous games with a playoff or (2) combine them for a massive game and see how that works.

BTW…if you have more than 4 players who wish to play, team up.

TIP of THE DAY…Use the camera on your phone to take a photo of the sets on the table as they exist BEFORE a player begins tearing everything apart in order to reinvent sets to play his tiles. IF the player judged incorrectly and can not complete the play and he has to return the sets to their original state, the photo will be INVALUABLE!

Best investment of the year for us. Have FUN!

5 Stars Fun Game
Very good family board game with durable tiles – As little as 2 people can play this game – exercises your brain

4 Stars rummikub fun fun fun
Great game. Played it with me mom on vacation and got addicted. Now play it every night after work with my wife and it’s truly like making sand castles. Takes your mind off the stress of the day and evolves the better you get. fun fun fun.

4 Stars He Loves Learning His Shapes!…
My 15 month old son has had this toy for about 4 months and he just loves it. After about of week of working with him, he’s learned what shapes go where, and when it’s time to clean up his playroom each night, he always puts his blocks back in the bin one at a time through their proper holes.

My only complaint is the lid. Like many people before me have said, it doesn’t snap on, it just kinda sits on top of the bin. If I don’t replace the top after he’s dumped out all the blocks, then he loses interest and moves on. Overall, it’s a sturdy, simple toy for teaching kids their shapes and we’re very pleased with it

1 Star Read warning to CA residents!
Don’t be fooled by my ratings for “fun” and “durability.” It’s my overall rating that counts here based in large part on safety issues.

My son received this toy as a gift from relatives for his 6-month birthday. At the time, I remember hearing about how some plastic toys (often made in China) contain harmful chemicals that are known to cause cancer and feeling concerned that this toy might be one of them. I didn’t do anything for awhile seeing how my son enjoyed playing with the toy and thinking (stupidly) that if this toy were truly harmful, it wouldn’t be sold in the U.S.

Then one day, while searching for other toys on Amazon, I came across this toy and happened to notice the warning to CA residents under Product Details. You don’t have to live in CA to care about this warning, although clearly CA legislators care more about product safety than legislators in other states. I couldn’t believe it when I read this toy is made with harmful chemicals known to “cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.” How Fisher Price can allow such a product to remain on the market is beyond my comprehension. I bet a lot of people who are giving this toy 5 stars are not aware of the warning.

I don’t care how competitive and/or price sensitve the baby toy market is, a company should know that parents are willing to spend a few more $ to get a safe product. You don’t have to use dangerous, cheap chemicals just to generate profits. Shame on Fisher Price.

As for my son’s reaction to the toy, he enjoyed banging the pieces together and putting them in his mouth, but he never bothered to try to sort the shapes since the top doesn’t stay in place, as others have mentioned. My son always removed the top and took out all of the pieces, no matter how many times I showed him how to sort the shapes with the top in place. Talk about poor design! I should have given it 1 star for the “educational” rating in hindsight, but I figured that theoretically it could be of some value if a child didn’t remove the toy. Also, Amazon wouldn’t let me go back and change my ratings.

I just got another shape sorter for him (the Tolo Rolling Shape Sorter) that arrived today from Amazon, and within minutes he was trying to put the shapes in the slots because he couldn’t remove either the top or the bottom of the unit. Now that’s an educational toy! It IS made in China, but the company is CE and ASTM certified, which tells you that they follow important safety standards established by the international community.

5 Stars Great, durable, colorful…
My 8 month old son really enoys these blocks, they fit his hands perfectly! The lid does come off easily but, he likes to play with that too and look through the different holes. I would think that the sorter would interest him in the months to come, not really right now. Overall; durable, captivating, and fun.

5 Stars Great floor time toy….
Wonderful product to help with floor time and older stages. The blocks are vibrant and very eye catching. My daughter loved these as a baby and continues to enjoy them now as a toddler.

5 Stars Good toy for parent and baby play
This is a good toy for mom or dad to use when sitting and playing with baby. Great educational value, nice colors and the pieces store inside toy so everything stays together. We rent this toy at Mini Me Baby Gear and Crib Rentals in Maine. [...]

5 Stars INVALUABLE !!
This product comes with two blocks of each geometrical shape allowing you and your child to take turns or follow the leader while learning shapes colors and hand-eye coordination :O)

The toy itself is very durable so as to allow for attempts at wrong shape wrong hole without damage or distortion to the blocks or the box.

It even takes a beating if your child decides it is more fun to bang the blocks together like cymbals.

No matter the activities in your playtime with your child, this learning tool is invaluable !!

4 Stars Smaller than I thought
The toy is cute, but I was not expecting it to be small. I bought it for a birthday present and had the bigger blocks in mind. I had to buy something else to go with it. It is a great toy, just a little small.

5 Stars Simple and fun!
Our 13 month old daughter has had this since she was about 6 months old and she loves it! At first she just liked chewing the cubes, then she moved on to dumping them out of the bucket, and now she is finally starting to put the blocks in the holes. It’s great to see the progression! It has outlasted many of her pricey toys and it’s so sturdy I have no doubt it will be around for years. The only downside is the foil sticker on the side of the bucket means it can’t get thrown in the sink.

4 Stars Teaches & Entertains
This toy teaches as well as it entertains. Its a great toy to start teaching shapes and colors as well as cause and effect. Currently, my son throws them out of the bucket and puts them right back in, that’s so much fun for him! He is 7mths, I guess soon he will be able to fit the shapes in.
