Hasbro Electronic Hyper Slide

Hasbro Electronic Hyper Slide

Be quick as you flick, slide or shoot the different-colored hyper discs under the arch. As the game unit calls out the sequence of colors for you to pass, the game “knows” if you’ve passed the right disc or not. Pass ‘em fast before the buzzer blasts! Obey the voice commands, get your brain in the game and break the code, or guess which color will be called next. Play with a friend or practice solo.

Tabletop slide-and-pass excitement features electronic lights and sounds, plus an announcer’s voice that talks you through three fast-sliding game modes. Electronic game unit comes with four Hyper Discs, each a different color; plus Hyper Band and instructions. Requires 3 “AA” batteries (not included). For 1 or 2 players.

5 Stars More fun than I thought!
I had seen advertisements on TV about this game–but I didn’t think it looked like it would be that much fun. However, after reading the positive reviews here I thought I would buy it for my son’s birthday. It actually is a lot of fun. Plus, I can actually win more often than not. Normally winning isn’t that important–but since I lose to my son when we play video games–it’s nice to have a game that helps me regain some respect!

5 Stars Quick fun game
Base houses small pieces so I just have to toss the unit in the closet without worrying where the pieces went. Fun for all ages.

4 Stars great for one or two of any age
For people who enjoy memory games, hyper slide is as much fun for children as teens or adults. Anyone who likes to challenge him or herself on remembering patterns or figuring out patterns will like playing. On the upside, it can be played with one player for when your 11 year old wants to play and an opponent isn’t available. On the downside, the ‘voice’ is pretty loud and you can’t control the volume so it’s not conducive to playing in the same room as someone doing homework!

5 Stars Hyper Slide the fast passn’ action game
Hasbro Electronic Hyper Slide

Hyper Slide is total FUN! It’s the ideal game for camping, lounging around at home or as a way to pass time on an outing.

This game helps you to concentrate, listen, and react as quickly as you can to get the discs through. It has three different game challenges that allow you to choose your comfort zone.

Hyper slide does not give you a lot of time to chat and converse–the object of the game is speed and concentration. If your children need to improve their listening and attention skills this is a must have for them. They will have to concentrate and listen to WIN!

If you want a game that you can enjoy with your kids but does not require a lot of “brain work” then this is the game for you. You can play it on a table or on the floor and it can easily fit in your bag.

Grandparents will even enjoy playing this game. Need I say more?

4 Stars Really cool game for 1 or 2 players
It took my kids a couple of weeks after Christmas to give this weird looking toy a try. Once we got it out and read the instructions it was a hit! Two of my children can sit across from each other and play (kind of like a cross between air hockey, & simon. You have to slide the correct color in a certain amount of time to keep the game going. It has a neat band that goes on so just one player can play and the pucks come back to you. Our ages are 3,7,9,& almost 11 and we all love it.

(The 3 year old can’t really play it, but he thinks he can)

MathShark

December 28th, 2009

MathShark

Educational Insights brings a terrific idea to life in Math Shark, a combination skill-building tool and calculator. The shape, colors, flashing lights, and beeps–all reminiscent of a hand-held electronic game–will appeal to kids who may not otherwise be interested in practicing math. (Parents: the sound is unobtrusive, but can be turned off.) Math Shark offers eight different skill levels and seven skill groupings: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, fractions, and percentages. After every question a red or green flashing light and a corresponding beep let you know whether or not you answered correctly. If you get one wrong, the right answer flashes, and the question keeps appearing, along with any others answered incorrectly, until you get it right. After each set an encouraging comment–”You did it!” or “Way to go!”–comes up on the screen. The sets are timed, and your score, based on how long it took to answer all the questions correctly, appears at the end. When practice is done for the day, Math Shark becomes a handy calculator. Requires two AA batteries, not included. –Rachel Radway

4 Stars good educational game for car rides
I have this and 2 LeapFrog game things in a bag we take for car rides. I am just glad my 7 year old son plays with this at all, which he does. The only strange thing is they seem to be Purple now, not Yellow (which was kind of a surprise when I first got it), and the batteries go pretty fast, we use rechargeables anyway but it’s another thing to keep up with. and it was a little bit overpriced in my opinion, but the pros outweighed the cons if you have a reluctant kid with math.

1 Star battery just doesn’t last
the batteries in this die too fast for it to be any good. I don’t know why they die so fast but we have it in our little car games bag and every time my son pulled it out the batteries were dead. at least our L-max works great. We just haven’t been able to get much use out of this product, and I think we overpaid for it because of the battery problem.

5 Stars Fun Math
My 8 year old son likes this math toy. He likes math alot and plays with his friends too.

2 Stars LCD is too hard to read!
It is a great concept — but the LCD is just too hard to read, even when the contrast is set to high.

2 Stars Screen Needs a Backlight!!!!
Not sure why more reviewers didn’t mention the fact that the numbers are very difficult to see on the screen. Regardless of the fact that you can adjust the contrast it was still frustrating and requires you to strain your eyes to see the math problems. We love all of the functions but are going to return this product and have already purchased the Math Whiz. It doesn’t do all of the functions that the Shark does but it’s a good start and you can actually see the math problems on the screen very well!

1 Star Piece of junk
[...]

The kids were really excited about this toy. Unlike the other reviews which report a garbled voice, the voice/commands shutting down, we get repeated commands over and over and over, from the first time we used it. “Yellow! Yellow! Yellow! Yellow! Yellow! Yellow!”

Yet another low-quality toy that will go straight from my wallet to the junkyard. What a shame.

4 Stars Great toy – good exercise and educational value
We have 3 kids of our own. Our oldest is 6 and we have a 4 year old and 1 year old. One weekend when we watched my sister’s kids (ages 4 and 1), we bought this game via AmazonFresh. It was great fun for the 4 and 6 year olds. Obviously not appropriate for the 1 year olds.

First you spread out the targets around the room or yard which are different colors and have numbers on them. You select a game (hyper dash, micro dash, micro team dash) and a level (1-3). The first player strikes any target to start. The “wand” then speaks instructions to the player such as “Green!” (strike green target) or “Double Strike Blue” (hit blue target twice) or “CompuStrike 6 minus 3″ (meaning strike the target with the number 3 on it) or “Reverse” (strike last target) The player follows the instructions. If they get it wrong, the wand makes a buzzing sound and they have to keep trying. The goal is to get through all the commands in the round in the shortest time possible. AFter everyone has gone, the wand tells you which player won. There can be ties. The winners advance to the next round.

Our 6 year old understood all the commands which includes colors & math & some memory. The math was too advanced for the 4 year olds but they got the colors & memory commands.

We found that if you placed the targets far enough part (outside in the yard or at the park), the game was good exercise as the kids ran around from target to target.

The game is easy to transport – light and compact. It takes 3 AA batteries. Fit well in our stroller.

The kids really got into this game and were quite tired when they finally stopped. It seemed to exercise all the right muscles and kept their attention for at least 1-2 hours

1 Star Blast! plus Letdown…
My kids received this as a present for Christmas and all of them from 4 to 10 loved it! It seemed like the perfect “kid” toy. However, as so many have already said, after about 1 month, it stopped working. New batteries didn’t help. I even took it apart to see if a wire came out or some connection fell off, but no luck. What a letdown. I’d feel better if it wasn’t such a great toy! Do I dare buy another? Probably not.

5 Stars More fun than I thought it would be!
I saw this game for some time, but just didn’t think it would be fun. After seeing all the positive reviews I decided to buy it for my son’s birthday. It is a lot of fun. The courses we set up do not span a great distance–so we don’t do a lot of running. However, I’m thinking of expanding the distance and perhaps I could lose some weight as well as having fun!

1 Star Great fun–but NOT durable!
We bought this toy for our kids for Christmas, and they played with it a handful of times and had a blast. I loved how it could be an indoor game or an outdoor one. But the kids just took it out again recently, and it doesn’t work anymore. It turns on, but then as soon as you press it to one of the targets, it shuts off. We have replaced the batteries, taken it apart to see if there was something that came loose inside, but nope, nothing has worked to fix it. I think it’s destined for the landfill . . . what a disappointment.

Techno Source Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader Electronic Table Top Game

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars It’s all been said…
5th Grader games are fun in general. I got this for my sister’s kids. They love it. They even hog it. And sometimes they get stumped by it. It is worth the price. Pretty sturdy. It has an occassional freeze up moment. Which isn’t good when you’ve got several people who care about their winnings. Otherwize no quibbles or tribbles.

*Note: if you want the downside of things: The screen is tiny! Come on toy makers, not every one can read tiny print…. size about an inch.*

5 Stars very much educational for 10+ kids.
Are you smarter than 5th grader is very educatonal game for 10+ years old kids. My Nephew and NIece enjoyed it very much.I brought it from USA and they are in India and they are still having fun and playing it.

1 Star does not work!
it’s terrible. it didn’t work at all. would stop after a few seconds. I changed batteries three times and still nothing. I moved it around like they said because of “Static electricity” but still did not work. I emailed them for a replacement but never heard anything.

4 Stars I’m smarter than a 5th grader!!
I think it’s a pain to have to adjust the settings every time the game is turned on. No one can read the questions with the default settings, unless someone is a speed reader with incredible eyesight. It would be nice if the game allowed the setting to remain set until manually changed. The questions are challenging, however, and we’ve had a lot of fun playing this game with friends.
