1 Star Great toy but falls apart and paint comes off
My children loved this toy but the sides fell off within a week and paint chips off very easily. I did expect paint to come off since there is friction involved, but not within a few days after we just bought it. I did contact Melissa and Doug company and they said they would look into the quality of the product (sending a box so I can return it to them, along with others I bought that did the same). It may be a bad paint batch but I do think parents need to be aware that the sides fell off easily (they do snap back on, though you really need glue to keep it workable) and the paint coming off is not good for young children who might put it in their mouth.

5 Stars Classic – We Love It
Bought this for my two-year-old son, but my daughter(3) loves it just as much. A classic wooden, brightly colored peg set. Hammer ‘em down, flip it, hammer ‘em down again.

The only possible drawback is that they can and do pop the pegs out, which means we have to hunt under the couches from time to time, but anyone with toddlers should be used to that anyway. :)

3 Stars believe the reviews.
the pegs and holes are varying sizes (some pegs work in all holes, some are too small for most of the holes but will work in one or two, some pegs won’t fit in some holes but fit in others. Maddening!) I have one peg that’s too narrow for all the holes that I put some tape around to increase the thickness. Now the red sides keep falling off. I keep re-gluing them with wood glue but it doesn’t hold. I may put screws in through the side but that will affect the appearance. But my kids love the toy. Wish the pegs didn’t come out, am tired of hunting for them around the house. Our hammer didn’t fall apart but the wood splintered around the corners. I picked as much off as I could but it’s still ugly. I don’t think my kids were particularly hard on it. I usually like m&d toys but this one is one of the few exceptions.

5 Stars Ideal for a Busy Toddler
My daughters each had a similar toy when they were babies, and when my granddaughter was a year old, we got one for her, too. Now her one-year old brother has his own, and it is one of his favorite toys. He loves to bang on the pegs (practicing his hand-eye coordination), it is durable and sturdy, the pieces are too big to swallow, it makes a banging sound which is satisfying to him without driving the rest of the family up the wall, and it helps him learn patience and persistence. I love the Melissa and Doug items for children!

4 Stars good not great
This product is good for learning how to it things precisely. Maybe I got it too late for my son. He pretty much hit all the pegs through a couple times and now he’s lost interest. He was 20 months when I got it so I think he was past it. He now likes using the hammer on the doors or daddy. He just pushes the pegs through with his hand. Mostly he ignores it. I think it would be better for a younger baby.

November 17th, 2009

8 Lumistick Glowsticks Glow Stick Bracelets Mixed Colors Tube of 100

The best brand of glow sticks on the market. You will receive 1 tube of 100 LumiStick luminescent light bracelets. Each tube contains a even mix of 5 colors — Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, and Pink. Your order will also contain 100 connectors so you can hook the ends together to make bracelets and necklaces. Once they start glowing, LumiStick brand glow light bracelets will last you all night. They will glow super bright for 8 – 10 hours. Then, they will start to fade out but may continue to emit some light for up to 36 hours. These LumiStick brand glow light bracelets are fresh from the factory. They come directly from the factory and were manufactured just a few weeks ago. We are constantly getting new shipments from the factory, so you know these are as fresh and new as they come. They have a shelf life of 2 years. Inside the glow light bracelets are two chemicals that emit light or glow when they are mixed together. Inside the glow light bracelets is a thin glass tube, when you bend it for the first time, you break the inner glass tube. This mixes the two chemicals together. Just shake it up and presto — it starts glowing like magic! Lumistick brand glow light bracelets brand glow-in-the-dark products are non-toxic. They are not radioactive and they are not flammable. The almost never break open, but if they do, the chemicals inside can be washed off skin and clothes with ordinary soap or detergent.

5 Stars I served it’s purpose
I don’t know if this was worth the shipping cost since I probably could have gotten it at a local store for less, but the convenience was there.

5 Stars Great for Burningman
Great for illumination at Burningman. They last all night. I used them to light myself and my bikes. If you play with them too much they break and squish all over. The drawback is that in the morning they are MOOP. However they don’t require expensive batteries.

2 Stars Cheap light sticks, but not the best quality
Some of them light up well but for the most part, they are cheap for a reason. I wish they made better glow sticks cause I would have bought those for more money if available.

5 Stars Great gobs of glowsticks
This price is incredible for this many glow sticks. They were a huge hit at my kid’s Bar Mitzvah celebration…. They were very bright and colorful. Great product.

5 Stars intertaining
kids were surprised had a blast putting them together to make what they wanted excellant vibratent colors

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Great educational toy
I bought this as a present for my 3-year-old son. He very much enjoys finding the letters to make words and of course singing the ABC song. I would recommend this toy to other parents that are teaching their children the alphabet.

5 Stars Great educational toy!!
Leapfrog Fridge Words Magnetic Word BuilderPlease note: this review refers to the newer airplane shaped Leapfrog Fridge Words Magnetic Word Builder, not the older version.

I purchased this item for my 17 month-old daughter along with the Leapfrog Fridge Phonics (sun shaped, not the older red and blue version). First off, I was thrilled that the upper-case letters from the Fridge Phonics are interchangeable with the lower-case letters from the Word Builder. Now my daughter can learn her upper and lower-case letters at the same time. A noted change with the new versions of this toy – if a letter has more than one phonetic sound, both sounds are given. For example, when the letter A is placed in the toy it gives the long and short vowel sound. This is also true for some of the consonants that give more than one sound (i.e. the letter C).

The only drawback to this toy is that at times the voice is not as clear as I would like. Also, with a younger child, having all 26 letters out at the same time may be over whelming, so I only put up about 10 letters at a time. Other than that, I am thrilled that I purchased this toy.

5 Stars Fun, durable and educational toy
My husband sent me to the store to get magnetic letters for our 10 month old daughter, and I brought home this toy. And our daughter loves it! We can be cooking dinner and she’ll stand in front of the fridge and pull out & put in the letters. She doesn’t comprehend it yet, but she knows how to play the ABC song and she dances along with the music. My husband and I have sat in front of the fridge with her for over 30 minutes spelling different words and doing the sounds with her. And it’s durable too – she has pulled and thrown the letters off of the fridge and there has never been a problem with them. The jet sticks pretty well to the fridge – she has been able to push it to the bottom of the fridge, but can’t pull it off the fridge. And I love the 2 volume settings – we have it on the lowest setting and can still hear her in the kitchen if we are in the family room. This is a great toy!!!

3 Stars newer version not compatible
We have the original Leap Frog Fridge phonics with the single letters. These are all capitals. This Word Whammer comes with only lower case AND the letters are not the same size/not compatible with the previous version. That is SO frustrating and obviously something that Leap Frog did purposefully and for monetary reasons. We generally love Leap Frog products but I was very disappointed that the letters were not interchangeable (as they were on the older version).

5 Stars Very good, educational toy.
Very educational toy. Daughter loves it. It has taught her how to build three letter words. Would recommend this to anyone.

5 Stars A Great Gift for a Little Girl
This is a perfect gift for a little girl. I gave this to my five-year-old daughter for Christmas and she loves it. Her seven-year-old friend and cousin also liked it so much that we’re buying them their own for their birthdays. The computer installation was easy and I have found that I can use RealPlayer and Windows Media Player instead of the software that came with the device, which is nice. The accessories packs available make it even more fun to change the Barbie’s hair, clothes, shoes, and accessories and each one comes with an online code to use. The only drawback I’ve seen is that the premium online membership is only valid for a short period of time so unless you pay, you lose some of the functionality of the online play. It’s not a big deal; my daughter got over it fast. Still, though, that is pretty greedy on Mattel’s part. Overall, though, this is a great gift for a little girl… even if she’s not into Barbies.

3 Stars mixed review I bought four of these
I bought three all three gifts for birthdays two worked and they were great the last one did not so I ordered another one and it worked fine didn’t want to deal with trying to return it new to buying online so I used the extra peices in case anything else has issues ,overall it was great and I would buy it again for another person but the online play we just don’t use hope this helps someone to make a decision

4 Stars Must have computer
The only way to charge this is via the USB port in your computer. If your child does not have access to a computer she will not be able to recharge it. There is no display of what songs are on it nor is there an option to shuffle the songs. Otherwise, for the price, it is a fine toy. There are a lot of accessories and would be fun for a young girl (6-9 years?)

5 Stars MP3
This is perfect for my daughter who is 4. She loves it and it was reasonably priced.

4 Stars Glad I bought it
I originally didn’t like this product. After reading more I was able to download tunes for my granddaughter by downloading them on the computer first and then transferring them to her toy. She loves it! I bought the headphones instead of the small ear pieces since she is 4 and she loves it.
