5 Stars Very fun!
We got this gift for Christmas for some friends, and it was very fun! We played it with only 3 people, which was pretty easy for the guesser, so you really do need more than 4 to play. I would highly recommend it!

5 Stars favorite game to date
We play games from time to time with our adult children and friends. Loaded questions is very easy to understand for the first time player and really fun to learn more about the people you are spending time with. Excellent game. We baught one for everyone on our christmas list this year.

5 Stars Such a fun game!!
Just bought this game recently and have only had the opportunity to play it twice – once “for real” and once with just the questions. Both times we had a blast!!

The first time I opened it, before we ever got around to pulling the board out, my sister’s boyfriend and I started posing questions to each other and before we knew it, my mom and sister had joined it. We spent the next two hours going through the questions on their own and had SO MUCH FUN!

Then, a couple days later, I played it the “real way” with my best friend and his wife. It’s a great game as it’s meant to be played. My only complaint is that we knew all each other too well and with only two other players to choose from, it was a bit easy. I could imagine this being best for groups of four or more, particularly if you don’t know everyone in your group that well.

I highly recommend this game for anyone who wants to have fun with friends and learn a few really interesting and funny things about them! Great game and great price!!

5 Stars A wonderful discovery, as fun as Balderdash, but more personal – a great family game or ice breaker!
This, along with Beyond Balderdash have become our favorite game for family get-togethers for times like New Years Eve and other family gatherings. It’s also become a favorite at family reunions, etc.

In this game players are asked questions, e.g., “What is your favorite thing to buy at a convenience store?”, or “Write down one thing you hope you’ll never need.” All players then write down their honest answers, and the person whose turn it is earns points as they make correct matches between players and their answers.

If you think about it for a minute you’ll see how this game can work well for people that know each other well, as well as for people that have just met.

One thing that we learned the hard way about this game is that it can REALLY drag if you try to play it with too many players. We tried to play it with as many as 12 players at a family reunion, and that was a mistake! It took forever to play, since it was so long between a player’s turns. If, on the other hand, you play with fewer than 8 players the game moves along quite nicely.

The game rules suggest that this is a game best suited for teens and up, but we found that if you are willing to pick and choose questions even younger players can join in. Our 9-yr-old, for example, does quite well. The main requirement for players is that they need to be able to read and write well enough to be full participants.

This is a fun game for many settings – parties, family gatherings, etc.

5 stars…just make sure you don’t play it too many times with too many people at a time in too short a time period :-)

Game on!

5 Stars Great Fun for Girl’s Game Night
Loaded Questions

My friends and I started playing this game every Saturday night about 3 years ago. Basically, you pick a card that has 4 questions on it. One person guesses who said what. Then it goes to the next player, etc.

This is a laugh-out-loud game. A good sample question is “If the devil lived next door, what would his name be?” Our answers ranged from Beelzebub to Stan (from the person who thought the devil would try to blend in.) We make up our own rules. We don’t do the “reversals”, we allow picking cards till we get one we like, we don’t stick to matching a colored square to the same color on the card, and so on.

I am buying the adult version and think this will be a good fit for the girl’s night. At our family holidays, though, we play the regular Loaded Questions.

I rated it high for educational, and my reasoning is that I’ve learned a lot about my friends and family. It won’t teach you to count and it’s nothing like Trivial Pursuit or other games that require you to think. That makes it perfect for us.

This game has no right answers, no timers, no buzzers, and the only thing required is that you have an opinion. It’s fun and relaxing.

The Settlers of Catan 5 6 Player Extension

December 19th, 2009

The Settlers of Catan 5 6 Player Extension

Now five to six players can explore and settle Catan! The 5-6 Player Expansion for The Settlers of Catan allows you to add up to two more opponents without sacrificing ease of play. Designed for five or six players, it adds even more drama to the award-winning game of discovery, settlement, conflict, and commerce. You must have The Settlers of Catan board game in order to use this extension, sold separately.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars 3 player is still the best
Without the expansion, I know 3 player has my favorite dynamics. With 5 players, one person got crowded out and was ineffectual the whole game, but I have not tried it out enough to make sure. This is a great game, though among a crowd of party people you’ll find people that really love it or are completely apathetic to the mechanics. In that way, it’s no Taboo or Pictionary.

5 Stars best game ever
I did not like playing board games as a child. It is tedious waiting for your turn, especially if there are more than three players.

now I have a family of five and there are not too many games that we can all play. This is one and since we got it we have played it several times a week. It does not take long to learn or to complete a game and yet it holds everyones attention without being too competitive. We think it is the best game we have played and tell all our friends about it. Even in this electronic age, it satisfies teenage boys and younger girls and moms and dads too. Highly recommended.

5 Stars Get it
It is definitely worth getting this, whether you already have the game or are thinking about getting it. Just remember, it doesn’t match up with the “gallery edition” of settlers.

5 Stars He LOVED it.
My grandson was delighted to have the extension package for Settlers of Catan. He has played the game, but only with 3 other people and there are always more who want to play. This was his favorite birthday present.

4 Stars Must have extension for larger group.
I was surprised that the original game only accommodates up to four players. We really enjoyed the game but always have more that four persons that want to play games. So the extension was a must. Looks like I will have to create more playing pieces myself for our 7-8 players.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars its great have a young one? into to science its wonderful
Purchased this for my 5 year old granddaughter for christmas. This she said out of the gazzillions of presents she got, including one of those riding atv looking things. This she annouced was her favorite thing for christmas. There are about 10 different experiments to do maybe a few more. And she loved every minute of it. I am thrilled I bought it and would love a recommendation for more kits like this. From the puny volcano, to the crystals, to the fizzing underwater volcano this kit gets 5 stars!

5 Stars Loads of fun for the kids!
My children are 6 and 9 and they were entertained for hours. The messiness factor is fairly low considering the objects of discovery within this toy. The volcano was nothing like what you would think of from past experiences, but they loved that experiment the best!

4 Stars Fun but expensive
This is the sort of kit that you buy exclusively for the instructions (though you could buy a science experiment book instead) and a couple of chemicals that you don’t have in your kitchen (in this case red cabbage juice powder, goldenrod paper and crystals). $20-$25 is a bit too much for that, but I bought my kit at Michael’s with a 50% off coupon (so I only paid $14 or so after tax) and I think it’s not a bad value for that. It will make me go to the store for more supplies that are not included (baking flour and grape juice in my case). But I think the point is that it’s getting us started on doing science experiments together – maybe later we’ll branch out on our own.

So far we’ve done two experiments. The first one is your simple mixing baking soda with citric acid and water, which most kids have done a lot, but the second one adds red cabbage juice powder to the mix, and that makes a lot of difference. My 7yo loved seeing the glasses turn different colors, and fizz or not fizz depending which ingredient she added to it. She started not wanting to do any experiments saying science was for boys – but by the end of that experiment she was hooked and ready for more :-) Now I need to find a supplier of red cabbage juice powder to repeat these experiments at her birthday party :-)

5 Stars Educational Fun!
Our 5-year-old loves doing the experiments in this box. It’s designed to teach with simple experiments and she has certainly learned from them. The experiments reinforce was is learned and helps her to remember the concepts.

5 Stars Makes a great gift for a 4 year old.
Gave this science kit as a gift to a 4 year old. He ssaid he loved it and even his little sister who is 2 really got into it as well. Great alternative to your typical Fisher-Price toys for gifts, this item really gets the little ones thinking on their own. Highly recommended.
