LeapFrog Spin and Sing Alphabet Zoo

LeapFrog Spin and Sing Alphabet Zoo

Animals go ’round and ’round while little tots learn their names and sounds. Whizzing motions, sparkling lights and cheerful songs introduce kids to the alphabet, from “alligator” to “zebra.” Three engaging modes help them learn: Letter, Animal and Music. In Letter Mode, the wheel stops on a letter and sounds out its name. Animal Mode lets little one discover 26 animals, along with their names and noises. Music Mode plays the alphabet song while little ones spin and play. Requires 3 “AA” batteries, included. 6″ x 6.5″ x 7.25″.

4 Stars Fun for all ages :-)
We got this as a Christmas present for our daughter (when she was 4 months old). We set it up on her high chair to keep her entertained while we made her food. It took her a week or so to figure out that she has to spin the middle part and now she loves this being a part of her routine. She only plays with it for a couple of minutes while the food is being warmed/prepared so it doesn’t reach the annoying level – but I can see how it could. I do have to say that I’ve never heard an x-ray fish, but I don’t think it’s sound is bzzzz. Other than that, I think this is a great toy to teach even younger kids dexterity and older kids about the alphabet and different animals (regardless or how silly the sounds may be). My daughter actually gets a kick out of it when I try to imitate the crazy sounds!

5 Stars Love it!
This is a very sturdy and educational toy. My one yr old would repeatedly drop it but it’s still in great shape. I love the feel of the product overall…it feels firm not flimsy. This toy automatically turns itself off when not in use and you have two different volume controls. My 4 yr old also tries to take it and play with it :) . The music is fun and engaging….my 1 yr old dances to it:) too cute… All in all I love this…I bought for my 1 yr old for her birthday.

5 Stars My 8 month old daughter loved it at 6 months and still loves it at one year!
We also bought this for a friend’s first birthday and she loves it. It has at least three settings, one for just abc’s, another for the animals, and the third for both, including singing the abc song.

4 Stars Our daughter likes this a lot
Our 10 month old loves to spin it to keep sounds or music going :)

I appreciate that the volume isn’t too loud in the low setting (a real problem in too many toys)… the variety is good: the music, animal sounds and letter settings are all different. Note that the animal sounds are a bit exxagerated… they had to find an animal with “X”, so they say “X-Ray Fish” (not even sure that’s a real fish!) and of course the sound is made up.

A good buy, since “spinning” is a pretty interesting concept to have a baby figure out.

5 Stars Fantastic choice!
I bought this toy for my 15 month old son and he loves it! It’s easy to use and very durable considering a little boy is putting it to the test.He loves the music although it can be a little repetitive for the parents, but I can overlook that when I see how much fun he is having.

5 Stars Super educational and lots of fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is an educational game. It teaches spanish/english words, it teaches about animals, numbers, to add, to subtract. It is lots of fun. My twin 4 yr olds absolutely love it!!!!!!

5 Stars great game
This game is great. My daughters – ages 3 and 4- love it. It teaches them adding, subtracting, and number recognition.

5 Stars Awesome leapster game!!
We got this for our 3yo son for Christmas. We weren’t expecting him to catch on right away since he is so young (just turned 3 in Nov.) but he proved us wrong. He quickly learned how to control Diego and complete the missions.

There are 3 areas to play (desert, rain forest, Antarctica) and each area has 3 levels of difficulty to chose from. The first level teaches basics such as “Find the number 4″ “Find a red shape”. The more difficult levels work on larger numbers and math skills.

I think my son will be able to grow into this game and be able to use it for several years. Great game!

4 Stars Great Game for Diego Lovers
I got this game for my three year old and he taught himself to use most of the games after a short lesson. He loves it. Great for education and even a little dexterity.

5 Stars Diego
My son LOVES this one! He has several to choose from and this is the ONE! I am amazed at how quickly he has been learning it since he just turned 3.

Melissa and Doug Primary Lacing Beads

Melissa and Doug Primary Lacing Beads

Keep busy for hours with this bright, vividly painted assortment of wooden beads. Each bead comes with oversized holes, and the included laces are longer for smaller hands.

This classic collection of beads and laces helps children with hand coordination, dexterity and color recognition — all while inspiring creativity. Convenient wooden case makes clean-up and storage a cinch. Comes with 30 painted beads. Case measures 8″ x 10″ x 2″.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Spectacular!
Use beads with typical and special needs children in regular and adapted form. Kids just love them (starting at age 2).

5 Stars More than lacing..
Purchased for my 2 year old…..we have not only used it as suggested but found many other ways to play with the beads. We roll them across the table to each other, separate them into color groups, shape groups, etc and we stack them.

5 Stars A classic for good reason
My two year old son loves everything Melissa and Doug and the lacing beads did not disappoint. This toy has many educational uses; he loves making patterns and stacking the beads like blocks. He is building his fine motor skills and working on problem solving (how to get the string through the hole without it falling out, which even led to a discussion on gravity.) The beads are well made and the wooden box they come in stores everything very neatly. A great product at a great price!

5 Stars Lacing beads
The lacing beads can be used to improve sequencing skills, to promote recognition of colors and shapes and to increase fine motor coordination skills. Is an excellent investment for everyone!

5 Stars Engaging, Simple Toy – But NOT for Under 2’s!
I love this toy – and my 22-month-old twins do as well. I would just caution that the two smallest beads, while the size of very small plums, are still just small enough that they could get lodged in your toddler’s mouth if they were inclined to try to get the whole thing in. I wouldn’t trust my kids with this toy unsupervised for at least a few months yet (or will only let them play with the half of the beads that are substantially larger.

Melissa and Doug Underwater 48 Piece Floor Puzzle

December 19th, 2009

Melissa and Doug Underwater 48 Piece Floor Puzzle

Beginning puzzlers build dexterity and problem-solving abilities with this colorful, 2-by-3-foot floor puzzle. A green-and-blue ocean-floor background is crowded with colorful and weirdly shaped marine life, from octopus to crab, fish, and coral. The complex image builds matching skills for sure, as children use the box picture to identify and place each of the big, easy-to-clean, 48 pieces. Alone or with parent or playmate, this scene makes a fun challenge they’ll turn to again and again. Glued and matted, it’ll also make a wonderful wall hanging. –Ava Natov

5 Stars So much fun!
My 3 1/2 yr old LOVES this puzzle. He even stays in his room after “quiet time” is over to complete the puzzle! Quite durable, just hard enough to be challenging. Great price. I’m going back to buy the Dinosaur Puzzle!

5 Stars Melissa & Doug
3rd Melissa & Doug puzzle purchased! Nephew loves the puzzle and uncle loves Amazons price and shipping. Very satisfied.

3 Stars Not what I expected
I was given this as a gift for my son and I was excited when I found out it was a Melissa & Doug product but unfortunately, it was NOT a wood puzzle, unless you count cardboard as wood.

The image is gorgeous and the pieces are huge and easy for kids to handle and hard for them to lose but unfortunately, my two year old figured out how to peel them apart in less than a week. The edges also bend easily making it hard for a young child to put the pieces in place properly.

This is a beautiful puzzle but not a durable one.

5 Stars Great puzzle for my 3 year old!
The pieces are thick so they don’t bend and break like most other puzzles. My only complaint is some of the pieces already had some paint wearing off upon opening the package. Overall, I’m happy with the purchase.

4 Stars Right difficult level for my 3 year and 6 month old son
My son has always liked sharks. That’s why I got this puzzle for him. He’s already 3 and a half. So I was a bit concerned this 3+ puzzle might be a bit too easy for him. But it turned out not.
