5 Stars Awesome Walker
It’s Awesome! Its all i play with when i play with my lego’s. The clone commander is good to have for sentimental reasons. The turret does fall off sometimes but its easy to put back on. The rockets are easily fired if you have good thumb muscles. Overall, anyone with a star wars interest should buy this. But beware! I’ve heard of cheats charging $20 for this $9.99 lego.

5 Stars More clones for our collection!
Want to create a huge Republic Lego army? This is a perfect place to start! 4 Clones and a mini walker!

4 Stars Love it
This is a great toy for 7 year old boys. My son loves it, as he does most Lego Star Wars items. It is fun putting it together and playing with it once it is complete.

5 Stars Seven year old built it, four stormtroopers included
I like these smaller sets for lego, making lego affordable for kids who buy their own toys. This has the clone walker, four clone troopers and weapons.

It was pretty easy to put together. It has stayed together very well and who doesn’t love extra lego dudes.

4 Stars Fun and a great learning tool
My son just turned 5 and loves Star Wars and recently became interested in Legos. Although the instructions are easy for him to follow because they are just pictures, sometimes it does call for adult interaction on the smaller pieces and stickers. Its a great hour or so for us to spend together while we build it and then he plays for hours with it along with the other sets. Only down side is the small pieces and if it breaks you have to pull the instructions out again..but that is expected with all lego sets like this.

4 Stars Anakin fighter is a must for little boys
This is one of my son’s favorite lego set. It’s actually pretty durable and very bright in colors. Even though after rough playing, some parts come apart, it’s pretty easy to put them back together. Also, Anakin and R4 figure is great since you “need” those figures to play pretend Star Wars.

5 Stars Legos are great!!!
My 10 yr old son loves putting these together. Only problem is they’re easily destroyed by younger siblings. DO NOT BUY if you have children in the house that still put things in their mouth. CHOKING HAZARD!!! But if this is not a problem than I highly recommend these toys.

5 Stars LEGO Star Wars Fan!
My son received this for his 5th birthday, and absolutely loves it! He loves LEGOS and Star Wars! He enjoys playing pretend Star Wars with the Anakin & R2 D2 characters that are included. Once it is put together, which by the way is fast and simple, it really is pretty durable. I have another son who is 6 yrs. old, and together they play w/ these Star Wars sets, and for the most part, they (the spaceships) stay intact. Then again, it doesn’t really matter if they break because half the fun is crashing them….you can’t play Star Wars without crashing spacecrafts according to my sons! We will definitely continue purchasing these Star Wars sets!

5 Stars Really nice – much better than Hasbro garbage!
My son loves lego Star Wars sets. He doesn’t even break them apart because they look so good. He actually avoids Hasbro Star Wars toys because we had really bad experiences with those toys falling apart and being cheaply made. You can honestly depend on Lego to make kick butt toys well worth their money. Really happy with the purchase.

4 Stars My 5 year-old loves it
I bought this set for my 5 year-old son. Took him about 3 half days to complete it. He absolutely loves this set. However, it can’t stand on it’s own without tipping over to the back.

4 Stars Adult LEGO Fan
Bit pricey, but you get a cool new Yoda figure and 3 Super Battle Droids with the rocket arm. Overall a nice looking set.

Star Wars Clone Trooper Voice Changer Helmet

July 17th, 2009

Star Wars Clone Trooper Voice Changer Helmet

Any child can be instantly transformed into an authentic Clone Trooper with the Hasbro Clone Wars Voice Changer Helmet. Featuring a sleek, futuristic look and details that are sure to please any Star Wars fan, this adjustable helmet issues popular sayings from the TV show and amplifies your child’s voice, adding a fun element to imaginative play. Designed for aspiring troopers aged five and up, this helmet is fun for adults, too.

What We Think

Fun Factor:

Durability:

(what this means)

The Good: Durable, realistic Clone Trooper helmet

The Bad: Size may be awkward for younger children

In a Nutshell: Inspires active, imaginative play that spans distant galaxies

At a Glance

Ages: 5 and older
Requires: 3 AA batteries (included)

The mask is sure to please a Star Wars fan. View larger.

The microphone inside changes and amplifies your child’s voice. View Larger.

Join the Grand Army of the Republic
Preparing for your first mission as a Clone Trooper is quick and easy. Before you assemble the helmet, adjust the straps on the insert to fit your child, then snap it into place. We had to try several times before the two back pieces and the front of the helmet snapped together neatly. Once we got the three pieces aligned correctly, they attached securely, producing a sleek, sturdy helmet. The three “AA” batteries that power audio features come already installed.

Featuring realistic details, including a tinted visor, a crest on top, and clone-inspired colors, this durable, plastic helmet has three buttons on the right side that prompt five different sayings from the Clone Wars TV show. A button that issues radio static keeps communication interesting, and commands like “Cover Me!” and “All units fire at will!” add a quick adrenaline rush to any battle. Plus, there’s a voice-modulator microphone so kids (and adults) can issue their own statements in a cool clone voice.

Experience Intergalactic Role Playing
Whether part of a Halloween custom, an everyday role-playing game, or a display in the ultimate collector’s bedroom, this Clone Trooper helmet brings home all the excitement of Star Wars. We were floored by the accuracy and durability of its construction. Plus the tinted visor was much easier to see through than we expected, as long as the helmet was sized correctly.

The size and weight that make this helmet so realistic and durable did cause us to worry about how easy it would be for smaller children to wear. It’s true that the straps inside adjust to fit small heads, but that doesn’t prevent the size of the helmet itself from being awkward. Similarly, the microphone is adjustable, but it can still be stuck too far away from a small child’s mouth. This means that the helmet has to be lifted by hand to speak through the microphone.

When it’s positioned close enough to the wearer’s face, the microphone does a good job amplifying statements and commands, as well as providing the static you’d expect from a clone. It’s ability to truly modify and deepen a voice is less reliable, although this doesn’t really detract from the fun. Overall, it’s hard to beat a toy that encourages active, imaginative play the way this helmet does. Even adults who are loyal to the original trilogy are likely to enjoy slipping the Clone Trooper helmet on and taking part in the struggles of the Republic.

What’s in the Box
Clone Trooper helmet and instruction booklet.

1 Star save your money
My grandson had been begging for this for Easter. It was a big disappointment. Too heavy, can’t walk with it on. As far as the “voice changer” goes, that’s a joke. It’s just a static button that you use when you talk. It doesn’t change your voice! I feel strongly that this is a false advertising issue. Huge, huge disappointment.

4 Stars Wish I had one as a kid…
I have to say, this is a cool helmet. The built in voice commands are great and the voice changer is nifty too. I love that it has an adjustable feature inside so as your child grows, you can adjust it to fit…it is not the generic “once size fits all.”

On the downside, this was not the easiest thing to assemble and the microphone inside is a little low.

If you have a child who likes Clone Wars, this is a great buy. I know my boy will get hours of play out of this.

4 Stars Heavy! Voice changer not great; still a fun toy for ages 5 – 8
We purchased this helmet as a Christmas gift for our sons, ages 5 and 8. The voice changer did not work. We exchanged it without any difficulties and this second one works better. However, as other reviewers commented, it is not a high quality voice changer. We have another voice changer that works much better. Also, the helmet is very heavy and awkward to walk around in. Be aware of that if you intend to purchase this as a Halloween costume. All of that being said, it is a fun toy. They love to play with it.

4 Stars Grandson loved it
Bought this for our 9 year old Grandson, a Star Wars fan and he loves it.

3 Stars Pretty good fun but a little disappointing
I bought this for my 9 year old son and he thinks it’s pretty cool. A little bit fiddly with the way things snap together (and don’t line up properly) and I agree with another review that it doesn’t seem to change the voice much but overall my son enjoys it – mainly for the look. Hey, if the voice changer actually worked he wouldn’t be able to find the thing, I’d be using it for conference calls. I think it’s worth the money I paid for it and would purchase it again.

4 Stars Lives up to expectations
Our 8 yr old wanted to spend some Christmas money on this item. We were very happy to find it on Amazon for $25. We had looked at it in many other stores for anywhere from $30 – $50. I read him some reviews from here, particularly regarding the “voice changer” before purchasing, but he wanted it anyway.

He LOVES this toy. It does require snapping together, and was a little tricky, but not too bad. The “voice changer” does not. And the microphone does not reach his mouth, so he really does not use that part of the helmet. Nevertheless, he loves playing with it, and being a clone trooper. He is a little smaller than average, but has never complained that the helmet hurt him or was too heavy. Mostly he uses his own voice and commands. He wears it outside, playing imagination battle games. It has been dropped on hard floors several times, but has not broken.

Although this clearly is false advertising, regarding the voice-changing function (which doesn’t), nevertheless, it was a good investment for Daniel.

3 Stars Pretty good fun but a little disappointing

3 Stars Satisfactory
My son enjoys this helmet but it isn’t what we thought it would be. It states on the description it changes your voice but myself and my son didn’t feel it does what it says. Basically you hold a button, the noise is static and you talk over it so it doesn’t change your voice just adds a static sound. The helmet is quite heavy so even though it says you can adjust the size it still didn’t fit his head too well. He did enjoy playing it for a little while but now it sits in the basement with the rest of the toys.
