4 Stars Good substitute
For Christmas we wanted to purchase a Nintendo Wii for our kids but they were sold out everywhere. We came across this item for only 20.00, it was nearly 80.00 in Toys R Us, and I’m glad we bought it. For 20.00 it couldn’t be beat. It gave us a preview of what the real Wii would be like and it is a lot of fun. It is very similar to Wii Sports and for the people who don’t want to spend the 250.00 to buy the Wii this would definitely work. It’s a great toy but once the Wii arrived it hasn’t been touched.

4 Stars Don’t listen to the haters
For the money, this is a GREAT toy. We have had no problems getting the controller to synch and can’t figure out why anybody else does. It is limited to the 5 games, but my 6 year old loves the game and plays it every day. The parents play it too. It may not be all that WII is, but it’s a heck of a lot cheaper and when my boys grow out of it, I won’t feel bad about the investment I made. I say, if you are thinking about buying one, buy one!

5 Stars cheaper than the WII but just as good
I got this for my Grandchildren 6 and 3 and they love it. It teaches them how to bat, bowl, throw a football and golf. They do not know it is not the WII but are thrilled with it. This is definatly a great pick.

5 Stars Great Alternative to Wii
Our family have loved this game system. The kids really get into all the sports and it’s better then having them sit and play video games all day. This gets them up and moving. My son has top score on the Football. My husband and I compete on the bowling, it’s fun for us too. My 3yr old can even play it and her fav is the bowling. She manages to get Turkeys! Overall, a good system, especially if you can’t afford nor want to break your bank on a Wii and it’s expensive games. Hoping Jakks comes out w/ even more,as the system itself, when bought on sale, is more affordable than buying one Wii game. I think it depends on how often you play.

5 Stars Pleased with Purchase
This unit is a pretty good deal.

The only issue we have is that it only comes with a single controller. (and you have to figure out how to “sinc” it the first time you use it) The contol box is small enough to fit in any cramped space, works out great for kids rooms and spare game tv. Lots of fun with easy to play games.

5 Stars classic board game
great classic game from my own childhood. Bought this for my 7 year old for Christmas and all 3 of my kids (4,6,7) love playing it. Great new features make it more interesting.

2 Stars buzzer does not work
I bought two of these, for my grandchildren. I am very disappointed to hear that neither work, the buzzer is broken.

3 Stars Makes kids happy
My 8 year old niece wanted this toy. I got her as a birthday present. A silly toy, but she really enjoys it. Well it fulfills the use for what it was made, i.e. make children enjoy. Looking at the built, I think it’s a little expensive.

5 Stars Always fun – matter your age
I got this game as a gift after having not played it for years. It is just as fun now as ever. If you have kids that you want to introduce to a game that you used to love, this is the one to get for them. They will love it, and it will probably bring back a lot of fond memories for you too!

It doesn’t come with batteries, so make sure you have some on hand so you can play right away!

4 Stars Old Game – Still Fun
I played this game as a child and now my Grandson and I enjoy playing it together. It’s fun and good for hand/eye coordination

Monopoly Electronic Banking Edition

February 19th, 2010

Monopoly Electronic Banking Edition

Now players can experience the most current version of Monopoly with an electronic banking unit instead of cash. A truly fun experience which utilizes today’s trend of a cashless society.

The Monopoly Electronic Banking Edition game combines the best of classic Monopoly with updated electronic transactions. As with the original version, players still operate with money, learn real-world economics, competition and strategy, try to stay out of jail, and try their best to get filthy rich. But this version has been updated to reflect changes in how the real world uses money: All transactions are conducted with Monopoly’s new banking card system. Anyone from age 8 and up will enjoy this updated version of one of the world’s most famous games. Uses two “AAA” batteries, not included.

Includes gameboard, electronic banker unit, title deed cards, chance and community chest cards, 6 debit cards, 2 dice, 6 modern tokens – Segway Personal Transporter, Baseball Cap, Altoids Tin, Space Shuttle, Flat-Screen TV and Dog in Handbag, 32 houses, 12 hotels and instructions. Anyone from age 8 and up will enjoy this updated version of one of the world’s most famous games. Uses two “AAA” batteries, not included.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Family fun
We like to play games with our kids and with friends. But we never played much monopoly, it seemed too involved. Now, with this electronic version, playing is much faster and more fun! With no money to be counted the pace picks up and you can actually enjoy the game!

4 Stars much faster
The game goes much faster when your not stopping to count out paper money. However I wish the game board was the old Atlantic City. Guess its just because I’m a Jersey girl.

4 Stars Monopoly without the tedium
I don’t think I’d ever finished a game of Monopoly before we bought this version. It’s all the fun of the original Monopoly without the tedium of dealing with the paper money. We can get through a game much faster, so I actually suggest playing this on game nights instead of trying to convince my friends to play something else!

4 Stars My 8 year old grandson loves it!
My grandson called me as soon as it arrived and was so excited! His Dad was getting it all set up so they could play! Think i made a great choice

4 Stars Disappointed
I would bet that I haven’t played the classic version of monopoly more than 3 times in the past 15 years. However, I must have played it many times as a kid… I remember most of the property names, most of their prices, and so on.

This electronic banking edition is based on the “Here and Now” Monopoly edition. I found the “modernization” of the game to be unnecessary — basically multiplying every single number by 10,000 and then labeling everything with “K” (for numbers in the thousands) or by decimal-point numbers with “M” (for numbers in the millions).

The updated metal tokens are nice. For some reason, the “electronic banking” version doesn’t include the stack-able skyscraper pieces (found in the non-electronic “Here and Now” edition) — opting for the old house and hotel markers. These never quite fit; four houses being slightly wider than the space provided. Seems like the skyscraper markers are often cited as the one noticeably superior feature of the “Here and Now” edition, so it was disappointing not to get them in the electronic banking version.

The electronic banking feature is itself a double-edged sword. It does have a “coolness factor.” It makes setup and cleanup slightly easier. My wife figured that it would prevent lost money. It also avoids certain “making change” annoyances. However, it’s SLOW and kinda clumsy. Even after playing this game several times, we sometimes reverse cards, making transactions go backwards (they all look very similar). This would never happen with paper money. This also sucks away some of the educational value. I was hoping that my kids would practice adding and subtracting (they’re in 1st and 2nd grade). Having the electronic calculator eliminates the exercise. With numbers like 280,000 and 1,750,000 to work with — labeled 280K and 1.75M — the math is too hard for them, anyway (for no discernable reason).

All in all, though, monopoly is an awesome game, and that still goes for this electronic banking version. We are enjoying it a lot, and in all likelihood you and your families will enjoy it, too.

Childrens Art and Crafts Kits Build Your Own Tin Can Robot Science Kit

February 15th, 2010

Childrens Art and Crafts Kits Build Your Own Tin Can Robot Science Kit

Recycle a soda can by turning it into a silly robot that can wobble around! Kit includes all working parts, motor, wheels, arms, googly eyes, and full detailed instructions. Millions of metal drink cans are thrown away everyday. You can learn children to recycle one of them to complete this fun project. Requires 2 “AAA” batteries, screwdriver and empty soda pop can (not included). Ages 6 & up.

User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Tin can robot
The robot was fun to put together. I thought that my son would have been able to participate in more of the process but the screws were so small and difficult to screw in that he could not. He did have fun seeing the finished product. Overall a good toy. He brought it in to school for his “make your own robot project” and it was a big hit!

3 Stars hard to build but pretty fun.
Kinda hard for 1st grader to build. Pretty fun but kid got bored of it because it only moves in 1 direction.

4 Stars Fun Toy To Put Together For All Ages
This is a fun toy for all ages. You can use a regular soda can in it and it moves! Pretty neat!

Clocky Alarm Clock on Wheels in Aqua

February 2nd, 2010

Clocky Alarm Clock on Wheels in Aqua

If you’ve ever had trouble waking up with a regular alarm clock, it’s time to meet Clocky! Clocky is the uniquely designed mobile alarm clock that is guaranteed to get you on your feet. It gives you one chance to get up, but if you snooze, Clocky will jump off of your nightstand and wheel around your room looking for a place to hide. Extremely athletic, Clocky can jump from as high as three feet and maneuver over both carpet and hardwood flooring with ease. Features include a range of snooze settings, early low battery warning and the option to disable the wheels. Mischievous and loud, Clocky is both hands-down adorable and surprisingly effective – give it a chase and see! Screen flashes when beeping/running Alarm beeps in random pattern Clocky is small – 5.25 x 3.5 x 3.5 Want him to stay put? Disable wheels Early low battery warning Power Source – 4 AAA batteries (not included)

User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars Doesn’t work on soft carpet
Good:

- The basic idea is interesting and amusing.

- The alarm sound is more entertaining than the usual.

- You can set the snooze interval.

- It has a ‘game’ mode – you can make it attempt to run around the room with its wheels.

Bad:

- The box says “the clock that runs away!” Good idea. Doesn’t happen. I have a soft carpet (it’s not shag or anything, just new.) With my carpet, the clock is able to roll off my nightstand but then cannot do more than twitch around in place, where it falls — the clock wheels sink in a tiny amount and the clock body ends up going around and around, instead of the wheels going around and going somewhere. Net result: the clock is sitting on the floor next to my bed, acting loony, and it’s almost as easy to grab and turn off as a regular clock, without my needing to wake up.

- In my sleep, I don’t carefully differentiate between ‘off’ and ’snooze’. I’d like ‘off’ to be harder to achieve than ’snooze’. On this clock, it’s no harder to hit the ‘off’ button than the ’snooze’ button.

- As another reviewer said, be nice if the alarm were louder.

Net:

I bought it cheap (elsewhere), and it’s amusing even though it doesn’t do the job, so I’ll keep it and give it two stars instead of one star.

PS – The design error is that the clock body should be offset farther beneath the axle. Maybe the design engineers had bare-wood bedroom floors at home?

3 Stars Wake up!
Great for people who oversleep and do not respond to regular alarm clock Problem for apartment dwellers as it is very loud and annoying and can be heard through to adjacent apartment.

5 Stars Clocky is a real hoot!
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1K8FW2PNL2FO4 If ever there was a product that cried out for an Amazon video review, it’s Clocky. This thing is so much fun to play with. It sounds like R2 D2 from Star Wars, and after the first time you hit the snooze alarm it jumps off the table or nightstand and runs around the room a beepin’ and a flashin’. You can see it works pretty well on the carpeting and it moves even faster on our tile floors. It can jump down from up to 3 feet without killing itself which is more than you need for most nightstands. I don’t know if you can see from the video, but it’s made pretty well and seems sturdy.

I bought it for my sister who thinks it’s cute during the day but doesn’t like chasing it in the morning. I tried to capture her on video, chasing clock in a real live morning situation, but her words were “unkind” and not suitable for an Amazon review.

This makes a cute gift for the person who has everything but likes to sleep. I hope this video gives you a better idea of how cute this thing is. (Sorry for all the jiggling around. I really have to get a camera with some kind of stabilization feature).

5 Stars Terrific item for any hard to wake person!
My daughter slept through every alarm clock I ever found. Clocky wakes her up every time! And she has to stay up to catch him! One of the best inventions EVER!

4 Stars VERY loud, anoying alarm clock
We purchased this clock as a Christmas gift for my daughter who just can’t get up in the morning. She hasn’t had an alarm clock loud enough to wake her and therefore she would go back to sleep and be late for school most of the time. This alarm clock is VERY loud and VERY annoying and it also rolls itself off the table so you just can’t reach over and hit snooze all the time. Just what she needed to get up in the morning, except when she forgets to turn the alarm on. For myself, this clock is too much but perfect for a person who can’t get up to a regular alarm clock. Only gave this 4 stars because I feel the price is high for an alarm clock even if it does roll around the room.
